right now, the only thing keeping me off the slopes is the weather.

too cold (<30&#176 is just not that much fun anymore, especially when you factor in windchill.

still waiting to make a call on going this weekend.

eta: knees are why I took up snowboarding
(although I have messed myself up pretty good on the snowboard (ribs), I'm still glad I've given up skiing, I know my knees would be really messed up then. Snowboarding is much easier on them, the only "worry" really for snowboarding is out of shape legs will be readlily apparent after a few runs)

Okay, so how long or how easy was it to switch from skiis to snowboard to the point where you don't embarrass yourself? I'm 62 and have been skiing for 44 years.

BTW, really looking forward to next year's riding season, with all the mods to the DRZ and the mods to my body it should be a banner year.

The biggest issue in transitioning to snowboards (the one I cant get ahold of) is that instead of leaning forward like on skis, you have to lean back on the snowboard or else you will fall over...

I grew up here skiing and when that skateboarding thing happened back in the (ahem) 70's.. I was there... so it was easy for me. There is a learning curve, but it's hard to say how one person will take to it versus another. with all that skiing experince, it may be hard to transition, muscle memory and all..

if you're serisous about learning, I'd highly recommend taking a 1/2 day lesson (your legs will hate you before the end of the day)

loveland has a better bunny slope than A-basin, but you'll still have to ride the lift more than you will board (shorter runs). Some of the green runs at loveland are not new-snowboarder friendly.. same can be said for A-basin for what it takes to get to the "easy" green run.
