I grew up here skiing and when that skateboarding thing happened back in the (ahem) 70's.. I was there... so it was easy for me. There is a learning curve, but it's hard to say how one person will take to it versus another. with all that skiing experince, it may be hard to transition, muscle memory and all..
if you're serisous about learning, I'd highly recommend taking a 1/2 day lesson (your legs will hate you before the end of the day)
loveland has a better bunny slope than A-basin, but you'll still have to ride the lift more than you will board (shorter runs). Some of the green runs at loveland are not new-snowboarder friendly.. same can be said for A-basin for what it takes to get to the "easy" green run.
