Can a decent AK be had for around $800?
Just curious.

Thanks for the links. I guess I need to do quite a bit more research. I don't really know what to look for in an AK these days as I got away from the platform about fifteen years ago.
I'd talk to our no co crews. They seem to be the in house experts on AK. Paging Jim, wulf, Brycom!!! And if you must then the AK God himself, Rachel Ray
Ray are you looking for a 545 or a 762 AK? AK's are super over price right now.
Don't be stupid!!!!!
When was that 8 months ago? Buy a basic AK then have a nice finish done and it looks n operates like the $1K units. Or pay for a parts kit and hopefully a receiver (or rec flat) 922 parts and do it yourself. Any AK ready to go is an easy $8-1200 depending how fast you commit to it. Then there are deals if you see one mid day on line.
Here's something as an option. he's asking $675 +s&h........ I'd offer him $550-600 Tops delivered and convert it. That would put you with 922 parts right in your ballpark money wise.

And another. It looks like it's 922 comp ready to go. Shit can the tapco side folder and h/guards and put some of Zteknik's refinished AK furniture and you're GTG, Minus ammo & mags. Or keep the tapco stuff until you get ammo & mags. That would be a priority, for any gun A&M.

Outside of private forums and maybe gunbroker, good luck trying to buy anything from the internet shops if they have anything left on the shelves. I'm still up in the air about building my own vs. buying a quality brand.
Yeah, I'm thinking about skipping the AK thing for now and going fully retarded and getting a Tavor or a Scar 16. Maybe a Steyr AUG.
