Bald Eagle in Aurora

I was driving down Picadilly by 6th today and was watching a couple of small hawks hunting mice and turned and looked on the other side of the road there was a bald eagle. It must've just come off the ground because it was about 20 feet high and about 30 feet off the road. I turned around to get a picture but couldn't find it, I think it got a pigeon because they were scattering. I had heard that were some out that way but didn't really believe it till I saw it. I have to say it was pretty cool, so much better than seeing one in a zoo. Has anybody else seen any around the state?

Yeah, start hunting and you will see one all the time.

I would be surprised to see one get a pigeon... Bald eagles are super powerful, but fairly slow. They can't usually take healthy birds. But as the Pigeon population becomes more dependent on Human waste and shelter than surviving on its own, who knows.

See them all the time from Longmont to fort Collins. But still are a thing of beauty!

That bald eagle fly down the Delany Farms on Alameda and Chambers, freaking awesome.

Saw one a couple summers ago around Granby Reservoir.

It did look slow when its wings were flapping, my first thought was "how does it stay up?" It didn't look to have enough speed to be in the air. I could see seeing one in the northwest mountains during hunting season but never really expected to see one out east there. I did see a hawk destroy a pigeon on top of the Walmart at I70 and Tower a couple months ago while I was working on the heat there. I like that hawk.

Saw a bunch in the raptor recovery center. Like 40 of em, and when they fed them, they all get down and run after the food, looked like some type of Jurasic Park with these huge walking birds. She said they are all over the broomfield-lafayette coordoor. That was a long time ago.

Do not be fooled that was an assault eagle, think of the pigeons! I have seen quite a few here but i will never forget a time i was coyote hunting and spooked a golden eagle. It throw out is wings and started chasing/hoping at me on the ground, never realized how big they really were until then.

There are a few that live by me. They have a nest near 120th and federal. Also up at Terry Lake in Fort Collins I see them often.

Taking trains through the Gore canyon in winter I think one trip we counted nine in about 40 minutes. They're thick as thieves along the river between Kremmling and State Bridge during the winter and occasionally we hit the young ones who are gorging on elk or deer we hit along the rails. What a majestic bird ! I saw a huge one at StageCoach res swoop down and grab a fish out of the water, take it to the shore and start eating it. I was awestruck.
