saw this cruising craigslist down near walsenburg has a bunker already not sure of size. I know there are a few here looking for something, it might be an option. I do not own, and have not seen the property, just thought I'd share. http://denver.craigslist.org/reo/3765617536.html

Looks and sounds like a nice little getaway home, complete with bunker. Thanks for sharing this!

wow, if it weren't further away than my current bug out location, I'd really have to consider this... for that price, I figure it will sell quickly unless there's something really wrong with it.

7K altitude is what's wrong with it. That and based on the neighborhood watch. EVERYONE knows you have a shelter.

After moving in the neighbors randomly drop in every 15-20 minutes all asking "So what convinced you to buy the place, the former owners shelter?".

The altitude doesn't bother me, I wouldn't be planting a victory garden there. I'd die of starvation if that was ever the plan. I'm sure you're right about the neighbors knowing about the bunker, but my intended use of the bunker is more for cool storage for food and ammo, unless there's a moisture problem. I'm sure it's pretty small anyway, and unless a nuclear bomb was on it's way in, I don't think I'd ever hunker down in such a thing anyway.

I suspect what's wrong with it right now is it sounds like you have to haul in your own water, which is a huge PITA. There may be wells, but that area is notorious for hit and miss well drilling. Plus $68K for 3 acres with a mobile home and a small fallout shelter sounds like a LOT to me. I think it's worth more like $30-40K.

I;ve done some work and consulting down there. Navajo Ranch is not that nice, or an ideal BOL, IMHO.
