RIP. I rocked out at some Slayer shows back in the late 80’s early 90's.

I've probably seen over a thousand bands play since the mid-80's. Slayer in 1992 was hands down the most batshit crazy I've ever seen a crowd.

Very sad day indeed. Rest in Thrash Jeff!

Agreed, Slayer fans are some of the most dedicated fans I've ever encountered and that applies to every genre of music. In the late 90's they played a show at Red Rocks and they weren't the headliner. I'd say about 40% of the crowd left after Slayer played it was hilarious. I really wish I was old enough to see them play in the late 80's early 90's. I could only imagine how rowdy those crowds were when half of their fan base isn't 40 years old haha!

Was that at the Mammoth with Testament?

No, sad to say I've never seen the mighty Testament. It was Clash of the Titans tour with Megadeth, Anthrax and Alice in Chains at the Sunken Garden Theater in San Antonio.

Slayer fans booed AIC off the stage. They lasted two and a half songs.

Ahh yeah Clash of the Titans was at Red Rocks here. AIC got booed of the stage as well. Someone threw a jug of water and hit Layne Staley in the head and they walked off. Slayer did another tour around the same time and headlined at the Mammoth theater that show was crazy. One of my friends got a couple broken bones in the pit. People were ripping pipes out of the wall and ceiling. Everyone was just going apeshit.

I saw them live 5 times a from the parts I can remember best shows I've ever been to, including pantera white zombie and Metallica. We lost a great one.

I have his and Kerry King's guitar picks from some pits I was in back in the day. He was a "hell" of a artist. I hope he repented before he went? LOL. RIP

Fav song was "Bloodlines"

"I smell of death, I reek of it, I will live forever!!"

:-)

More of a Lamb Of God fan, but Slayer was pretty cool. RIP. Hope the fans give those westy fucks what the Patriot Honor Guard are too mature to...

Damn... sad day for music... I do like that Shred in Peace, that's pretty cool. I always loved rocking out to Slayer, especially when hanging out with a bunch of hip hop heads in HS... [rockon]

I had the opportunity to meet Jeff and Kerry a few years back at NAMM. They both were very cool and not as menacing as they looked. It will a tough recover for the band to lose Jeff. RIP.

Not to mention Dave Lombardo just quit for the 10th time. It's just Tom and Kerry now.
