Okay, how stupid is this? If I were there I probably would have shoot this idiot. Afterward, sued the shit out of them for my PTSD.\

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A man dressed in full tactical gear and carrying a fake gun crept into the lobby of a Missouri movie theater after a late-night premiere of the film “Iron Man 3″ last weekend. The theater’s owner is calling it great entertainment.
Colorado residents aren’t likely to agree with him.
According to KMIZ (http://www.abc17news.com/news/movie-theater-publicity-stunt-triggers-officers-to-respond-to-active-shooter-situation/-/18421100/20089958/-/66o97fz/-/index.html), Goodrich Capital 8 Theaters manager Bob Wilkins paid an actor to enter the theater wearing the a costume similar to the one donned by the gunman who opened fire on an Aurora movie theater in July 2012 (http://kdvr.com/2012/07/20/dark-night-in-aurora-gunman-shoots-71-kills-12-at-batman-premiere/), killing 12 and injuring 58 more.
Wilkins insists hundreds in his movie theater were entertained by the stunt. John Morlock, a retired Army war veteran who suffers from post-traumatic stress, was in the theater and left far from entertained.
“We’re just getting into the car when I spotted a man in full assault gear, carrying what appeared to be a modified M-4 and 9 mm on his side,” Morlock told KMIZ. “It’s just unbelievable. The whole country is talking about gun control because of shootings in theaters and schools.”
Morlock didn’t call 911. But Jefferson County Police spokesperson Doug Shoemaker said many others did, as his department received a slew of calls reporting “a man dressed in all black and body armor with a rifle walking into Capital 8 Theaters.”
“Everything was in place,” Shoemaker said, comparing the scene to the one that transpired at the late-night premiere of the “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora. “It’s the opening night of a superhero movie, it’s somebody walking in all-dark clothes — everything pointed to bad things about to happen. There was really no good that could come of that.”
Wilkins disagrees. The man who planned the stunt months in advance told KMIZ if he had it to do all over again, he would.
“My job is to entertain people,” he said.
Had the actor Wilkins hired been engaged by a concerned civilian — something that Shoemaker believes would have been likely had one of his off-duty officers been in attendance — the theater’s stunt could have turned tragic in a hurry, Shoemaker said.
“There is an unfortunate lack of wisdom in this particular judgement,” Shoemaker said. “Hopefully it will never occur again.”

Dumbasses. Even ignoring the issue of whether the actor might been shot, how disrespectful is that toward the survivors and families of victims of the Aurora shooting?

I have no idea how that could be considered entertainment.

There will likely be many lawsuits over this, and hopefully the theater loses ever one of them. Has to be the dumbest thing I have heard in a while. Takes a real moron to go into a theater dressed like that. I carry pretty much everywhere and if I was one of the first he pointed his fake gun at I would have defended myself. I would guess it would be obvious pretty quick it was fake but at the very beginning not so much. The idiot entertainer took a big risk with his life. He should be prosecuted along with the manage.

That's a good way to have someone have a heart attack and die. Im surprised no one did.

Having someone dressed up as ironman, ok cool costume. But to basically copy the aurora shooter? F'ing stupid.

Are they serious in this current "affraid of our own shadow" environment we currently live in. This just made CCW even harder. Now when I am carrying, this will put even more delay into any action and could end me up in trouble or dead for acting Exactly as CCW was intended. If this idiot comes out and draws on the crowd, I then draw, it will be more delayed trying to figure out what is going on. If the "fake gun" has any light effect I would not be able to tell the difference. If the gun is not fake I and my family are probably dead. When the cop comes in, I may be the only person with a real gun! Again, I am dead when the cop shots me unless he has enough reaction time. Or the cop shots him. I could be in trouble for even drawing since there was no other gun. WTF were these guys thinking!! Guns are not toys and treating them as such is the problem. You have jackasses doing stunts like this which show a complete lack of understanding of what a gun is from the general public and then the other jackasses in Gov thinking these are only toys that should be taken away!!!

What part of these are not toys keeps escaping these people!!!

I would bet the manager is not a gun person or a CCW holder. If he was he would have understood the other side of his actions. This mentality that others act like me. Before I carried I never understood that others out there carried guns. Understanding that guns are everywhere in our daily lives would make a lot of people act differently.

So, WHAT was the intent behind this? WHAT did the hired actor dressed in tactical clothing with fake guns DO once he entered the theater? Was he yelling or menacing anyone? Was he standing in the lobby with the manager handing out free gifts? Still incredibly stupid either way, but one would clearly make the manager and actor criminally and civilly liable.

Not sure why the anti's don't get this... oh yeah, because they have no knowledge or experience in this realm. They seem to think everyone carrying will lead to chaos. If only they really knew how many people carry daily around them. An armed society is a polite society.

I seriously think that you would be justified in double tapping that ass clown in the chest. This was not entertaining or funny in any way and the manager needs some serious counseling to help his sickness. I would not wait to find out if the gun was real because if it was, by the time you figured it out, it would be too late.

xxxxxxxxx would have gotten dropped faster than a xxxxx to her knees in a xxxxx sucking contest if I was there

so where is the line?

is it open carrying at dinner or just the movie?

is it carrying guns from the car?

well I saw my neighbor jim pulling a big ol carbine out of his trunk and started heading for the house, I thought for sure it was gonna be like that murder suicide we had in Aurora a while back. So's I put one right in the back of his head scattering his devious greymatter all over the front door.
I saved the whole family!
Ima hero!

I saw nowhere in the article where it said he was menacing or threatening anyone.

Byte, It is all about perceived threat, the expectation has been set. Someone carrying a rifle into a house is different from someone in full tac gear walking into a theater.

Reality is someone would have drawn down on him and told him to put down the weapon...he would have either not complied or raised the muzzle and died right there

Showing up to the midnight opening of a superhero movie in tactical gear, carrying what was described as "what appeared to be an M4 and a 9mm" ...how could that possibly go wrong? [facepalm]

I'm not saying that people SHOULD react to that as a threat, but given past history they WILL perceive it as a threat, and chances are high that someone will escalate the situation to real weapons. It's fortunate that nobody did in this case, but sooner or later, it's bound to happen if someone repeats this stunt. One of the possible downsides of "shall issue" is that not everyone that gets a permit has nerves of steel, and it's possible that someone will panic when confronted with this type of scenario, and decide to eliminate the threat before it's proven. This is NOT the same as open carry, or coming across a hunter in the woods.

There was NO REASON for them to have had fake guns . . . that was fucking stupid and the manager who set that up should be locked up in a psych ward getting electroshock treatments for the next few years.

we can do that.
so you think Dude that took his kid to the park to shoot airsoft (http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/queens/father-daughter-shoot-pellet-gun-ditmars-park-article-1.1337810) should go down for the count then?

I will call the senate and have that nasty scary little amendment changed for you.

I guess not enough people died for them to be remembered

my point is that when we start reacting to this level for one based on the actions of another then we are no better than the liberals that want to ban them altogether.

"OMFG! he has a HANDGUN at a RESTAURANT! CALL THE COPS! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luby's_massacre)"

"OMFG! he has a HANDGUN at a PARK! CALL THE COPS!" (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chi-shooting-marquette-park-chicago-20130510,0,3164074.story)

first, it wasn't where I started looking, it was a link from another site. Never said I was proud of anything.
second, if you are afraid of information from a site that does not normally agree with you......
third, if they are as "left" as you seem to be afraid of and they agree that that was a stupid move like the rest of us.. Your point was?

I get really tired of all the left vs. right BS baiting. Both sides have their faults. You just showed one with yours.
