A better picture may help. Appears to be a turnip or sweet potato.....

Shoot an email off to the BB folks. Maybe check their Facebook page.

No help here. We did not get a basket this week and your pic is not very clear.

Yeah...looks like Pachyrhizus erosus to me. Also known as jicama. They're really good and refreshing. Light, crisp and watery.

It's not the right shape or color for a Jicama (at least, from those that I have seen in Sprouts.) The shape looks like it belongs to a sweet potato or a rutabaga, but it's hard to tell the texture from this dark photo. What color is the flesh? Can you tell us more about it?

its a reddish skin smooth(like a red potato) its big as hell

if a sweet potatoe can be this big and weird shaped is almost say its probably that

I was looking into that BB group. Seems it's popular with you guys? Figured a good way to actually get some more veggies in my diet or something. (Or is it really not cost effective and more about just the healthy/local/natural aspect of it?)

we like it.....the cool thing imo is you dont know what your getting every week so it pushes you out of your comfort zone as far as recipes go

Everyone knows Sprouts has mutant jicamas.
Maybe if the OP was doing less white powder, the pic would have been less fuzzy. [Coffee]

If that's the case, King Soopers has some mutant Jicama, too.

Yeah. If it is jicama, peel it, slice it, eat it. Very good, light and refreshing with an almost lightly sweet taste.

ETA: We just happened to have a jicama fresh from Safeway:

It does look a little different than the mystery item in your photo.

Like with so many things in life, the best approach would be stick it in your mouth and see if it:

A: Runs away screaming
B: Calls the police
C: Produces a savory, delicious taste
D: Raises an eyebrow, draws it's fist back, and socks your tastebuds with a resounding "Why the heck would you put an unknown object in one of the prime entryways into your body?!"

If it is anything other than C, you may have picked the wrong mystery object to bite/gum/lick, and are now in for distress - legal or gastrointestinal....
