There's no going back.

The final piece of MDOP news: with less than 22 months left to go before Windows XP end-of-support, and strong application compatibility between Windows 7 and Windows 8, we will not invest in Windows 8 support for Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V). MED-V is an important part of MDOP and customers around the world, such as Applied Materials (http://www.microsoft.com/casestudies/Case_Study_Detail.aspx?CaseStudyID=4000009353)and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (http://www.microsoft.com/casestudies/Case_Study_Detail.aspx?CaseStudyID=4000009350), are using MED-V to smooth their transition from Windows XP to Windows 7 – a more modern version of Windows. If MED-V is part of your Windows modernization plans, there’s no need to stop what you’re doing. MED-V remains supported on Windows 7.

Windows Me...the "More Errors" edition.

I can't stand Windows 8...and the .1 "Blue" turd polish won't change my mind.

Im still using windows xp. Love it. Highly stable and all my aquired software will not run on any newer windows programs. $1000s of dollars of graphics and vinyl cutting software that I can not replace.

...and XP support ends 4-8-14. No more security patches after that date.

7 is much better than 8. No need to go past 7 until the next one comes out.

I enjoy my 7, and things like this make me inclined to avoid getting 8.

I got a netbook/tablet that came with windows 8.

I'm an Apple hater. The next day I returned it and got an iPad, it was that bad.

I used to have a copy of Windows 1.0. All downhill since then...

The box on the software said "Windows 3.1 or better," so I installed Slackware.

I installed Pokki (http://www.pokki.com/windows-8-start-menu) on the one Windows 8 machine we have here at the office ... gives you a start menu back and will force it to start up in desktop mode instead of Metro.

Dunno if these issues are addressed by the 8.1 update (I believe they brought back the start menu though).

They only brought back the start button...which just takes you back to TIFKAM. They will allow direct start to desktop with 8.1.

I have windows 8 on my new desktop rig, which I use as my primary system for gaming and surfing... I don't mind it, except one minor issue I have- I can't find crap! Want to screen grab something, so I hit 'Print Screen', then go to open paint... wait, where the holy hell is paint? Can't go to start because it brings up that silly apps screen, so I have to open my pictures, find a picture, open with... Paint! File>New and then go from there... took 3x longer than just clicking 'Start', accessories, PAINT! F*** you microsoft. But I still refuse to use apple. [Coffee]

Lol, I feel the same way frequently (haven't gotten 8 yet, think I'll avoid it as long as possible). But I've hated Apple for about 20 years now. If I click the red X on a window, that means I want to close it, not hide it! :P

and the consumer wins again - see if you can get your money back on 8.

Download Start8, it's worth the $5 or whatever.

I find Win8 way faster and more stable than Win7 for me, so adding $5 to the $49 upgrade to get a real start menu back isn't a big deal to me.

I don't mind Win8. I was given the option to upgrade for $15 and I went for it (not to mention my Win 7 wasn't exactly legit).

If I could get my BF3 on in Ubuntu, I'd never leave it.
