Ever wonder how much jail time you'll get for carrying your gun concealed without a permit? I have. Follow this link to some great information to Colorado laws.

http://www.state.co.us/gov_dir/leg_dir/lcsstaff/2004/research/04CrimeTOC.htm

If you click on "Felonies" and open as a pdf, you will get a list of the levels, and the minimum and maximum sentences.

If you click on the "Class 1 Felony" you will get a list of what crimes are a Class 1 Felony. This rule follows for the rest of the site. Have fun with this site and look around. This is good stuff to know. You hear it is illegal to take a gun onto school property (unless it is in your car, kept unloaded and used in an approved, public demonstration, etc) but no one ever says HOW much trouble you'll get into. Well, if you just have it, and haven't committed a crime with it, it appears to be a Class 6 Felony, which comes with a minimum of 1 year in jail .

WOW, that hurts my head trying to sort through all of that.

Doesn't Denver have it's own little laws concerning anything gun related?

Kind of, but the punishment is going to be the same so it doesn't matter. I don't know how Denver gets away with banning open carry, since they are a city, and no city law is supposed to trump a state law. Maybe open carry isn't actually illegal in Denver. I won't be the one to find out though.

I read through some of the statutes I had committed to memory, and few of them were exactly as listed in the statute itself. A LOT of paraphrasing took place and a lot of the essential elements were ignored. So it's a general guide, but I woulnd't consider it GOSPEL.
