View Full Version : "The Gun Lobby Takes Vengeful Aim" (New York Times Op/Ed re: Morse Recall)

This op/ed piece in the New York Times regarding the Senator John Morse recall effort illustrates how the anti-gun and anti-2A movement is hoping to win, by characterizing the recall effort(s) as driven by the "gun lobby". This mischaracterization of the recall efforts, that were initiated and driven foward by ordinary citizens, demonstrates their disdain for gun owners and the continuing need for the Second Amendment.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/26/opinion/the-gun-lobby-takes-vengeful-aim.html?_r=2&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1374845012-ZX4FwoMGsWTyx/ekIJWBeA&

In my mind, the fact that the NYT was compelled to defend John Morse proves that the germ of gun control was in large part a partisan effort pushed by out-of-state urban liberals who wish to impose their political sensibilities upon Colorado.

These recalls must succeed!

And, let's hope the Republicans can put up a decent candidate to oppose Hickenlooper in 2014.

They all can suck a mile worth of dicks. The "gun lobby" is the only group that represents us. Since Morse encourages his party not to listen to their constituents.

By the way the ads on radio for both of them keep telling us that is YOU people in Denver that are responsible for this. Funny, I did not know that District 11 went that far north. They also like to tell us how much that they have done for the children. [LOL][Puke]

According to the law, the candidate fighting the recall (Morse/Giron) can accept as much money as they want from any 1 individual (Bloomberg/MAIG) whereas the folks running against them can only accept up to $200 per person willing to donate.

"Mean and Vengeful"???
LOL

How about their "Pathetic and Despicable" use of standing on peoples graves to push their agenda?
Take a look at Morse's Fuckstick page.

I nearly vomit every time I hear one of these ads, and I've all but given up listening to the main country stations in the Springs because of it.

Who are they hoping to convince? As I recall a sizable percentage of the signatures were from registered Dems. I hope BFDF is getting enough help with the continuing education campaign they are doing!

The recall has got real ugly, real fast. The coastal urban liberals are using Colorado as their legislative lab rat. Guess they did not expect us to do anything about their attempts to fundamentally alter a strict Constitutional right without a fight. The voters will have their say on Sep 10!

They banned my free speech. I guess I know where he stands on all the rights. Makes it pretty clear why he should not be in power.

Somebody should post the fact that those who voice their opposition are deleted and silenced, illustrating his contempt for their constitutional rights.

This is exactly right, the suppression of first amendment rights needs to be illustrated to the voters in this recall. Morse's constitutional abuses seems to be across the board and not just the second amendment.

I can not post any new messages. But I followed all the rules for liberals too. I tried to relate to them and lure them into a false sense of belonging. Then I said some bat shit crazy stuff that is the opposite of what their core beliefs are so it would change the minds of the useful idiots that change their minds a lot. However, unlike them I wasn't trying to destroy the country by eroding the constitution and making government bigger.

I said "I'm a liberal and I don't have an opinion of my own. So I think that my opinion should be silenced and guns are scary and because of that it shouldn't be banned or regulated in any way. They are dangerous so constant practice is required to ensure that they are under the control of the person in charge of them. They shouldn't be left alone for children or theives to find since that is the way they get a gun. Gun nuts should be aloud, nay forced to bring their guns with them all the time by making it a constitutional amendment to carry their favorite gun where everyone can see it and laugh at them and once they have done that long enough they can hide it under their jackets."
I was paraphrasing a little and I know there was too much sense in there and not enough empty lies and emotional strawmen but it hurts to write that dishonest. I feel dirty afterwards.

At this point in the debate and the recall process, I suspect that there are few minds that can be changed. It takes months, years and even decades to change people's minds. Consequently, the political landscape in the Morse and Giron recalls is fairly well established and unlikely to change. What does that mean? In the short-term, it means that pro-2A people have to get out the vote in those districts, counter false advertising by the Morse/Giron campaigns and make sure that every single voter who is in favor of the recall gets to the polls. We will not be able to change any "guns are the problem" people's minds in time, but two facts are highly encouraging. First, an overwhelming number of people signed the recall petitions, indicating high interest and likely high turnout in the election. Second, many of the recall petition signers were in fact Democrats. If memory serves, something on the order of 22% of the Morse recall signatures were from Democrats.

If you live in Morse's or Giron's district, get a carpool going and get as many pro-2A voters to the polls as you can!

Like rent a bus and promise them pizza afterwards?
It seems to work for their side ok.........

The gun issue is a tough one, most have their mind made up on that one.
Rather focus on the fact that they did not listen to their constituents and did not legislate in a fair and objective manner.
They ignored the majority of our most vital law enforcement personell, the Sheriffs that were duly elected by the people.

If the "Gun Lobby" was this big bad boogie man. How did the gun lobby even let a d bag gun grabber in office in the first place. No, I think its happening just how it looks. These guys turned out to be bad and people feel they made a mistake and want a new election held. I don't see the gun lobby having much pull on this one. People in Colorado just don't like giving up their rights with out a fight. And nobody likes being pissed on told its just rain.
But I'm preaching to the quire here. We already know this stuff.

I saw the post today on FOXnews31 / KDVR site (http://kdvr.com/2013/07/29/outside-groups-rev-up-involvement-in-recall-campaigns/) Outside groups rev up involvement in recall campaigns (http://kdvr.com/2013/07/29/outside-groups-rev-up-involvement-in-recall-campaigns/)

MAIG and Kelly/Giffarts PAC group is funding the support campaign for the recall elections with Morris and Giron.

MAIG stated they supported the efforts back at the beginning to get the Gun control bills in Colorado.

Makes me so .......well, angry! I hope to god that Morris and Giron get their ass handed to them. Sucks since not my districts and I feel like I can not do anything, yet these outside fucks can meddle with it.

Would send a nice message to the anti gunners they are not welcome here.
