You know we have a few other threads that are the same thing. I'll work on a new picture as I am now on slide #2 that is rusting.

Yeah we do have a few threads, I may have to do a search to see what I was carrying in those threads lol.
You carry an M&Pc correct? I remember you having rust issues. I just started carrying a shield and am curious how the slide will hold up.
Is the rust an overall problem with them or because it's a CCW and gets extra moisture from the body?
I carry a Taurus 5 shot revolver in .357 mag and I have a few spots of pitting on the side of the frame that is against my body before I learned to clean it up more often. Also have a Nano 9mm, but haven't found a holster yet that works well with it and a lasermax.

Since the M&Ps use blackened stainless steel slides I would imagine that rust wouldn't be a problem.
If you wipe down a carry gun regularly and keep it oiled it's really not going to be a major rust problem (especially here in Colorado) unless you have a serious sweating problem (or the pH of your sweat is odd).
At any rate, here's my EDC piece ... a Steyr S40 carried in a leather pancake holster modified to IWB. The slide on it is not stainless and has a finish similar to a Glock Tenifer finish and I've carried it almost every day for the last 8-9 years and I have no rust.

I'm the only guy I know who rusts M&Ps. I did a good job keeping the moisture off for a few years, but I guess I got lazy this year.

I'm avoiding oiling my shield other than after cleaning. I want to see how it will hold up. I really do think it has to do with PH levels tho.

Updated pic with the "decal grip" panels I had left over from my Glock. Amazing what two small pieces of grip tape will do...

Is it the slide that's rusting or the sights?
As long as it doesn't effect the function, I wouldn't worry about finish wear on a CCW gun ... the only sure fire way to keep it pristine is to leave it at home (a little wear gives it character anyway).

The rust isn't nearly as bad this time. I like the rest of the worn areas, but they don't really show up in the picture.

Love seeing all the worn gun pics! mine didn't show up that good in the pic but I'm through the finish by the muzzle and the back right corner of the slide

My shiny new CCW (M&P40c) is sitting at my FFLs house just down the street but I can't pick it up until next week Wed. I'll post pics of it when I get it, still waiting for my Bravo Concealment DOS holster, though I don't understand how they can be backlogged by 8-10 weeks (like other holster manufacturers).

A lot of M&P40c's here ... honestly if I had the cash I'd probably buy one and retire my Steyr S40 (as it'd be about impossible to replace).

Wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of mine.
Now that I have the shield I may have to try out a full size.

My full size carry is the M&P 45. I'd carry the 45c but the size difference isn't significant enough between the full size and the c for me to carry it. I also dislike the 9 so the .40c was the only other logical choice! Mine was my first gun I ever bought (6 years ago) and it has thousands of rounds with never a single malfunction. I've been completely blown away by it! On a side note...when we going wheeling?

I came so close to buying the 45c a few years back. Needless to say I would have been sleeping on the couch had I bought it. Hopefully I will own one someday.
I'm on vacation the first week of October, I'm hoping to do some wheeling then. My brother has an 81 Yota pickup he's supposed to be bringing up.
