View Full Version : Enough already
To date from this weather pattern, we have received over 15 inches of rain. We have been fortunate at this point to have had very little impact personally, but many of my friends on this board and otherwise have been. I get that we need the moisture, but enough is enough. I don't consider myself particularly religious(spiritual, yes), but maybe it's time to start praying for more seasonal weather. If there's any saving grace, it's that it's not 35 degrees colder. 15 inches of rain would be close to 12 FEET of snow...

I'm frankly glad the drought is not just over but its been Gironed.

Well that's questionable.. yeah we got 14 inches of rain but in reality most of it just runs off the surface here so after the 1st inch or two the rest is just running downstream..

Nice, I see what you did there. [ROFL3]
Hopefully the ponds and lakes and reservoirs are filling up nicely.
For those saying enough already, I will just remind you Hawaii got 41 straight days of rain in 2006 -- it was so bad, my sister had to evacuate her house, not because of flooding but because the soil under foundations was liquefying and the house uphill from her was threatening to slide down the mountainside. This is a time to remember the Power of Nature, help our neighbors who are less prepared or fortunate than we are, and be thankful for what we've got.

I mentioned to my wife the other day be glad it wasnt 40 degrees colder......
Yeah, my yard looks great.
My yard certainly has loved all of this moisture as well! With me being a day sleeper it sure has helped me sleep well the past few days with the cool rain and cloud cover.

I would not have been at work at all. Fire in the fireplace, hot coco for the kids, hot coco with baileys for me, a good book. Fuck the world.
Yeah, my yard looks great.
Mine too. I need to put pontoons on my mower so I can cut the rice that I planted.

I wish I had gotten the sod in before this rain.

I lucked out ... had just had new sod put in over Labor Day weekend and it was starting to dry out on me (stupid watering restrictions -- didn't know about exceptions for new sod) just as the rains hit. Now the browning patches are recovering and I need to start thinking about mowing.

Power out in aurora. Right in the middle of making breakfast. Had to bust out the propane and propane accessories.

Nice improvising.
It's going to be a nasty winter! If you don't own a generator, I would highly recommend you pick one up.

Actually, I think 12 feet of snow would have been more preferable. It would melt more slowly, and thus wouldn't totally ruin all the roads and bridges.

I would have posted a pic but the forum says my photobucket pics are too big.
Clearly size matters, and for once I am on the high end!!

Drop your cocks (Glock21) and grab your socks (galoshes). It's coming down hard up here.

I'm in the same exact situation. What part of town are you in? I'm in the Northeast and it's been hard to keep some of my sod from washing away...
You didn't use sod screws....did you?

If I hear one single person use that logic in-person, no matter how accurate it may be, I'm fairly certain my usual diplomatic manners are going to disappear entirely.
Colorado doesn't have an inadequacy of water, we just don't store enough of it. Might kill some 'special' mouse or something making a reservoir.

Never heard of such a thing, but all is well.
Barker Res. is about 6" from going over the spillway.

The law of prior appropriation has a lot more to do with it. We do not own but a very small percentage of the water that originates from our state. If we dam it up and allow evaporation to happen we have in affect been held accountable for that missing water owed down stream. Also the water we have stored is not ours to have and is owed down stream. Water rights are are tricky in the western states because it is the most demanded commodity.

They can come and take it. [mop]

So if Colorado doesn't own much of the water that originates here then can we sue it's rightful owners for not preventing THEIR water from damaging our property?
Maybe we should hold California responsible for the damage. :D

Problem with your idea Zundfolge is that California doesn't own all the water they use, they just want us to acknowledge their illicit use of more than their fair share for decades as a fait accompli and up their share for free.
I see snow on the radar...on Mt Evans. :)
