So there's the survival and preparedness section which doesn't quite seem like a perfect fit. I was thinking with the number of questions that come up from people regarding around the house projects, maintenance, etc. Maybe we could have a Joe the handyman section or something for all things man-work related? (Vs cluttering up the general forum)

I'm generally against more subforums, but I've had quite a few questions about stuff like this recently that I haven't asked because this isn't really the site for it.

Hey fitz, if you(or anyone else) can put together a list of some of the threads that could be placed in this new forum get the list to Omicron and we can likely put this forum together. I like the idea.

Here are the 3 questions I have asked recently.

So, from the above list I'm getting thread ideas for "Residential electrical" and "Home Inspection/Certificates".

Other DIY ideas?

I'm currently working on building a barrel stove, replacing clogged pipe behind my bathroom sink, building a corner pantry with a light that comes on when you open the door, building a tie rack, and building a drop down secret gun storage compartment.

There was also another thread about a tv cabinet with a lift system in there somewhere. I'm on the iPad, sot it's hard to search for it.

I almost forgot the swamp cooler I'll be needing to install in the roof.

Waiting on a complete list of old threads. Once I have that, I'll get it set up and move em.

Sorry, I didnt see my thread took off, been kinda busy with GF moving in and other day to day disasters.

I keep forgetting a good word for it I thought of. Wasn't meaning a real narrow specific area of DIY ie electrical unless you wanted it as a major section with it's own subs. I had in mind kind of an advice column. We've already mentioned all the kinda handyman and automotive questions. But there's also been the different financial threads. One could say the cooking threads though most of those are more a hey look at this cool tasty stuff rather than how do I do this kinda of thing.

So if you want to go big with it you could do something like:

Colorado AR15 Questions And Advice Corner:
-General Craftsmanship/construction/landscaping.
- Automotive and Electrical
- Finance, services, and general anything.
(I'm sure someone can refine it to something better than that.)

I wanted it because as we know aside from the emergency help our members lend each other, there is also a wealth of knowledge we can tap into for each other. I'll try and get my own list of existing threads toghether.

Fitz it will be one catch all DIY sub-forum not its own section

Get some of the threads that you mentioned in your OP and Omicron is ready to turn this on

Bump. Anymore threads to add? Was this still happening per PM after I sent a list? I'm getting itchy to ask a tech nerd question for some net problems and probably a new router.

Thanks for setting this up Paul.

Even though this is a "gun forum", I think we have a strong community network here, and nobody would complain about having a subforum for DIY.

Im going to be finishing my basement next spring, so I appreciate this. I'm sure there are a lot of folks here with experience in the permit and inspection processes, as well as some construction wisdom.
