Starting a new thread for the Hudak recall. Didn't think it was going to happen till I saw the Hudak recall people with a table at the Tanner yesterday, signing up volunteers. Made sure I signed up for that. Sounds like it will get rolling in about 2 weeks.

Isn't this the second attempt?

I can't remember: was Hudak the one who doesn't understand statistics and told the rape victim she couldn't have protected herself, or was she the one who said that verterans and active duty military are too full of PTSD to be trusted wtih 30 round magazines?

^^ She made the "statistics are against you" comment to the sex assault victim.

I'm all for kicking her to the curb but the website...well, ummmm....I guess I would rather see it focus on Hudak and not past history.
20,000 is no small task. Ask the guys, in Pueblo and C Springs. They had a lot less signatures and it was no easy task.

Good luck though...kick her to the curb!

The guys who are running the site...would be my guess. Remember, the greatest lessons learned are from failures. Maybe the folks taking over the recall effort should speak with those who started and failed. Find out what worked, what didn't work, where the weak points are, what can be improved etc. Instead they spent half the website attacking those who couldn't bring it to fruition. Granted, I don't know anything about the first attempt, but it is a bit of a turn off. They might get some of the foot soldiers who helped initially come back and try if they try honey instead of.....

I suspect $$ is at the root of this. The new organizers want to try to make sure ALL of the donations go to them, and not the formers...

The guys running this new Recall Hudak site seem to be more pissed at the people who started the last recall effort than at Hudak herself. I am all for recalling her, but this just seems dumb! If nothing else, team up with that other group! Is it that hard to fight toward the same objective? Personally, I think the effort would be best to find a good Pro2A candidate to boot her out. At this point even if a recalll happens, her replacement will only be in office for a few months before they have to go through the election process.

I believe they initially shut down the efforts to recall Hudak to help with the Morse and Giron recalls.

Aloha_Shooter
10-05-2013, 09:36
They had shut down the Hudak effort because the volunteer-only effort wasn't getting enough signatures fast enough under the 60-day timeline. They've learned a lot of lessons (like just how tight that 60 day timeline gets and the importance of vetting the signatures as you get them). This is worth doing, they just need to plan out the work and timelines so they can get it done -- very hard with volunteer labor but even worse if you don't have everything ready to go before you drop the petition off at the Secretary of State.

Many of the Hudak recall volunteers came down south to help out with Morse and Giron. I plan on going up north to help them when I have time.

Evil Hudak needs to go -- strike while the iron's hot.

Mike McAlpine. I worked with him doing volunteer recruiting during the first attempt. I haven't gotten in touch with him again, but the recall is up and running again as of today. I spoke with Susan, who is working with him, this afternoon. RMGO has apparently pledged to hire paid petitioners if the volunteer base isn't properly established, but I think this is a case of Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

I'd be all for the recall but is it "going to the trough" one too many times?

This thought has ran through my head a few times. We've got some momentum for the midterms after the first recalls. I think Hudak will be tougher, and if the recall is unsuccessful, does that swing momentum back to the Dems?

This will be one that will need a lot of help. Not because she is entrenched, but I think due to the population of her district we will need a lot to get her out. If this is organized I will be willing to throw a couple bucks at this for sure.

Correct me if I am wrong but if she is replaced with an R, it would then be even in terms of votes right? No more crazy gun bills could get passed then? I have no doubt that the Ds would make her step down as to not risk losing her seat.

Of course he supports outside influence -- what I'm saying he got was the fact that in these recalls, knowledge of the outside influence from gun control groups hurt the Dems. Morse, Giron, etc. are still in denial about that.

So, you were on his side, he fucked over all gun owners hard (and the citizens of the state in general), you're not on his side now, but you'd go back to being on his side? That's more than a little disturbing.

And I know he can't undo most of that stuff, especially the Denver thing, but he sure could have some pull if he really wanted to.

My point is, he is nothing but a problem for gun owners and Americans in general and now that he has infringed, he is doing his best to try and get most people to forget about it and act like he is on the side of the gunowners. Expect more of this from every Dem in office the closer elections come around. "Yeah, I may have taken your rights, but I am pro 2A!"

I was kind of wondering the same thing myself. Face it, aside from the gun stuff this year (which is HUGE mind you) I haven't had too much of a problem with what he's done. Let's face it, there are FAR worse Dems out there that could have really jacked things up for us. From the clips I've seen, she seems to always think she is "...the smartest person in the room".
EX . "Flip a coin", "Statistics are not on your side", and many more, etc.

She so smug that she believes she's "too smart", and too "politically savvy" to have her district vote her out.
She believes she's smarter and better than Giron and Morse and will show THEM and the party "How things are done by a "pro" like her."
She has an ego problem that she can't overcome no matter how hard the party tries to get her to do what is best for the Dems.

I think because of this, she would not heed party warnings to resign so they can appoint another party member and keep senate control and "go the distance' with an election (should it come to that.

Here is how they will spin it. Once the signatures are verified that a recall will be allowed, they will have her step down and the Dems will say that they now hear the people loud and clear and because the people spoke up and said that they wanted her removed, they will listen to the people of the state and she will step down saving taxpayers millions of dollars by avoiding a recall election.

Notice the part where I said they wanted her removed... In no way will they come out and say that "because of her stance on gun laws" we will put this new stooge in her place who wants to repeal the gun laws and the other mess that was passed in the last legislative cycle. They will make it about her and her facebooking during meetings or whatever other goof offs she was caught doing. There is a telling statement in this article and that is "if that's what it takes to stop the recall, I'm all for it".

They will eat their own to stop it.

Somebody involved with this needs to counter to the media that the anti recall folks are photographing supporters and other such "intimidation" tactics.

FWIW, Here's the email I received from them yesterday... Nothing new, just looking for donations to keep the efforts going.

I've got good news and bad news.

The good news is the Recall Effort is well on the path to success. We've got boots on the ground and we're making great progress collecting signatures.

__________________, I can't thank you enough.

The truth is, without the help of volunteers like you, this Recall Effort wouldn't be possible.

However, as you may have seen, and heard, radical left wing special interests are on the march, picketing street corners with anti-Constitution propaganda, cursing at women and children holding recall signs, and even blocking innocent citizens from getting out of their vehicles to sign the petition.

This is why I'm hoping I can count on your continued support.

You see, these leftist groups aren't going to stop anytime soon.

In fact, we have confirmation that they're busing in Chicago-style community organizers to harass and intimidate honest citizens who are only trying to take part in our Constitutional process.

There's no doubt about it, now is the time to redouble our efforts and send these extremists packing!

Can I count on you to chip in $15 or $20 to help the Recall Hudak team beat back these orchestrated attacks?

http://www.recallhudaktoo.org/

Your contribution will help grow a grassroots network large enough to drown all opposition.

So please, consider chipping in $15 or $20 today.

Of course if you can give more, we will make sure every penny goes towards making this effort a success.

After all, it's up to patriots like us to safeguard liberty for our children and grandchildren.

Again, thank you for all you are doing, and keep up the good work! We can do this!

Sincerely,
Mike McAlpine

P.S. Left wing special interests are on the march, picketing street corners with anti-Constitution propaganda, cursing at women and children holding recall signs, and even blocking innocent citizens from getting out of their vehicles to sign the petition.

Was down there again for a while. WAY more recall people than evie people.

Guess who showed up, the police were there the whole time I was there. There were at least 2 marked units parking and patrolling and I saw at least one unmarked (lightbar across the top of the windshield is a giveaway). Naturally the opposition (the few that were there) were on their best behavior. I'm hoping I'll see/hear something that will bring my opinion back to pro-police but we'll see, my outburst above was an emotional release after weeks of hearing of the abuses heaped on the petitioners and no action being taken against the abusers.

The opposition staged a flashmob at noon or so, it was pathetic, like 8 people out of an expected 150 people. They "danced" or something, when I think of dancing I think of Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth.

The wind is chlly, getting my coat and going back.

Pundits don’t understand Colorado, can’t explain its drift to the right By Rick Wagner (http://www.gjsentinel.com/S=dc5c2be05895bea30778aa4b362d821aac7a800f/staff/detail/58/)
Wednesday, November 13, 2013

There’s much consternation among the national keyboard-tapping class who stare moodily westward through their smog-filled skies and wonder what happened to Colorado’s leftward drift.
Some confusion comes from an essential misunderstanding of Coloradans. Many of the people who write about us think spending a ski holiday in Vail for their daughter’s winter break from Brown University qualifies them as sages on Colorado values. Like a romance-novel character, we’re complicated and misunderstood.
Alarms have sounded since the recalls of two state senators over their gun-control votes and the crushing defeat of Amendment 66. That is the rejected tax measure, with its liberal valentine of higher and progressive tax rates, unaccountable spending and centralization of education responsibilities in Denver.
Democrats, who hold the state Senate by only one vote, now have to contend with a recall effort to remove Westminster Sen. Evie Hudak for the same reasons the first two senators were recalled. The difference is, Denver-area Democrats are trying to disrupt the signature-gathering portion of the effort rather than just wait for a recall and then outspend everyone.
In Hudak’s district, the signature gathering is made difficult by the high number of signatures required, since her re-election took place during a presidential year when more votes are typically cast than in off-year elections. That vote determines the number of signatures necessary for a recall petition.
Also, Democrats are much less confident in defeating the effort at the ballot box after two successful recalls.
Furthermore, the outspending piece in recent elections was not as productive for Democrats as in the past. Supporters of Amendment 66 outspent opponents 500 to 1, with a $10 million campaign financed largely by out-of-state oligarchs. But the supporters were never really in the fight. Bell rang — instant knockout.
In other troubling news, school board races in Denver, Jefferson and Douglas counties, which were closely watched and heavily funded by unions and other progressive organizations, were swept by conservative reform slates.
Don’t let all of this make you believe money doesn’t matter a lot in elections. With so many voters already in hardened positions on issues and candidates, the slippery 15 percent to 20 percent who haven’t made up their minds or paid the slightest bit of attention to anything but still may vote, are the group everyone’s looking for at the polls.
Money, enthusiasm and ignorance are the real operational watchwords of political campaigns.
One locates voters apathetic or uninformed on issues and then uses money to lobby them — usually by advertising frightening non-realities or convincing class-warfare messages.
The reason big money didn’t work in some of Colorado’s latest races was because voters were already well educated on the issues and enthusiastic to make a difference on a topic they understood and wanted changed.
Nervous Nellies for the 2014 election are Gov. John Hickenlooper and U.S. Sen. Mark Udall.
Hickenlooper is the most vulnerable, despite what Front Range newspapers would have you believe. His support is seldom above 51 percent in polls, and now, thanks to his missteps on guns, the death penalty and Amendment 66, he is in some trouble. According to a Quinnipiac University poll published by the National Journal, his approval rating is an anemic 48 percent, with a plurality of voters thinking he does not deserve re-election.
This has forced him into the dangerous area of supporting fracking to try and win back some centrist support, but this makes it tough with environmental-group members, who spend a lot of time making sure their electric cars don’t catch fire.
Udall, also up for re-election, should be concerned about being among senators referred to by The Wall Street Journal as the “Obamacare Dozen,” who helped drag the legislation across the finish line on Christmas Eve four years ago.
He has $4 million already in his war chest and, like Hickenlooper, hasn’t been presented with a strong contender from Republicans yet. Both men are likely nervous but not yet threatened.
That could still change. So, I predict in the next few months we’ll see our governor guzzling more fracking fluid and thoughtfully visiting drilling rigs. He’ll probably be accompanied by Udall in bib overalls and a Stetson. They don’t get us either.

Rick Wagner writes more on politics at his blog, The War on Wrong.

Voice of the people is heard if the recalled official is gone. I don't want recalls happening just to swap the majority party but for real reasons.

If Hudak resigns, you will have a great victory. At that point, with no election, there is zero risk of balloting to go against us and the message of consequences for following Bloomberg's dictat is sent.

Just getting the recall petition validated is a victory unto itself, and sends a loud message to the antis. I do expect Hudak will resign if enough signatures are validated, as the dems will do anything to avoid losing the senate majority. She doesn't enjoy the massive financial backing that Morse got, and is more on her own.

A comment to that article by Chris Rawlings is spot on and very well thought out.
If the D's just shove their lacky in Hudak's place that is further proof the D's are ignoring the will of the people and another finger is given to Colorado voters.
Agreed, she should not be allowed to resign and be forced to face her constituents.

Oh, and the author of that article is Eli Stokols who is as far left and in the D pocket deep

Hopefully that's based on the number they were shooting for and not the minimum they needed

Recall Hudak organizers are trying to gather at least 25,000 signatures by early December.

92% of 25K is 23K.

I volunteered to go door-to-door for signatures today and had a great time! Amazing amount of positive feedback from the residents of The Hudak's district. The recall campaign can really use more help tomorrow through Sunday - even on Thanksgiving day. Door to door, as well as in busy parking lots and places like that. Please come and volunteer for a few hours.

Hey looks like all the unions are dumping $ to prevent this

http://thecoloradoobserver.com/2013/11/labor-unions-pony-up-big-bucks-to-save-hudak-from-recall/

Contributions include $25,000 from the National Education Association Fund for Children and Public Education in Washington, D.C.; $10,000 from the International Association of Firefighters in Washington, D.C., and $20,000 from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees in Washington, D.C.

Meanwhile, the Colorado AFL-CIO Labor 2K donated $25,000, and the SEIU Local 105 in Denver gave $10,000, according to reports on the Colorado Secretary of State’s TRACER website.

You can always count on unions!

Mark my words, if they get enogh signatures in this one to require a recall election, she will step down. No way they risk losing the majority. I know it was said about the other two but this is for the majority and that was back when they thought they were untouchable. Know they know the will of the people can put them out on the street. We may hate them, but they are not stupid when it comes to playing the politics game.

Great job by everyone involved and congratulations!

Now we get to watch Hick install Bloomberg's little brother into her seat. Folks, this battle was won today but the War is just beginning and the next battleground is the election in 14. We must take back the majority or there will be lots of other laws passed. The big thing though, is when we do get the majority to make sure these laws are repealed and go on the offensive.

I would like to see a law that does away with the Colorado background check all together. Waste of money for a redundant system when there is a federal system already in place.

The "D" flipped the finger to the people again, by not allowing the recall to happen and yet again, ignoring their constituents.
They knew if it went to a vote they were screwed so they leveraged Hudak to resign.
They ate their own.
This is all the more reason to keep people paying attention to politics and awake this upcoming year.

The toughest one to repeal will be the UBGC law ... but even that isn't immune, lots of people hate it and its possible that the repeal of all the new gun laws will come down to a single bill.
The mag ban will very likely be repealed as its stupid and people hate it (and it may be overturned by a constitutional amendment voted on by the people).
We're going to be stuck with the $10 fee tacked on to BGCs forever though ... but if it just applies to FFL transfers it'll suck but we can probably live with it.

Obviously I hope they both get repealed but I sure hope they separate the bills if they do try. I don't have high hopes that the UBGC will ever get repealed and I would hate to have repealing the mag ban shot down because it was tied to the UBGC bill.

You say this in a thread about the third legislator in Colorado history to face recall PRECIOUSLY because of the BGC law (along with the others). No, it would not be political suicide for anyone to try to repeal the BGC law ... it may be difficult, but frankly any politician that tries will be a flippin' hero to a large chunk of Coloradoans.

I also don't buy the "many gun owners/supporters approve of it" bit either ... most of the "even most gun owners support BGCs" nonsense is about supporting Brady checks at gun shops, not UNIVERSAL BGCs. And even then I think its more about them being asked in polls if they approve of "laws to keep guns out of the hands of criminals" in the generic sense.
