As much as I want to type it all out and cry my eyes out again.... I'm not going to. Deal with a cell phone screen shot.

Yes. It is my Facebook post...

Flame away...

Didn't you quit your job to move on? if so; it's a good thing! Grow.....

So what's next?

Yeah, this^^. Best of luck. I expect you'll do well. Most of my regrets are from things I didn't do, and I'm glad about the the things I did that were the scariest to "take the leap" on. Better to regret something you at least had the balls to try, than to regret something you wish you tried, but didn't.

You know my opinion, this if done right will be an upward move. The first year will make or break you, just look at it as load development for that new shootin iron.

Shit I've been at my job for 15 years. I've made some great friends, met my wife at work. It will be a tough one if and when I leave. For the time being its stable, i still get raises and it pays the bills.

Good luck on your next adventure. Let's go shooting!

Shit if I find a job paying more, the same or even a few dollars less then I make now I am fuckin gone! About 10 of the 20 people I work with are all applying for the same job on 11/1 so I have to make sure the others can't make the interview haha. Good luck and don't look back.

I got my first "real" job 4 1/2 months after graduating from High School, and stayed with that company for the next 13 1/2 years. It was the kind of company where it WAS a family. Leaving was not my choice, as the changes in management bankrupted the company, and I stayed to the end. Being in middle management, I was tasked with closing stores and telling people that they no longer had jobs. Easily the hardest thing I've ever done. For the last 17 years, I've worked for myself, and it's definitely had its ups and downs. I still keep in touch with a lot of the guys I worked with back at the old company, and put to use the training and experience that I gained there every day. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, and congratulate you on taking this difficult step. It sounds cliche, but it's true that for every door that closes, another one opens.

Thanks guys. It's been a tough day. All the emails I've gotten... Holy crap I've never had allergies this bad!

For those of you that are asking, I'm leaving my job at the Adams County Sheriff's Office and going to the Department of Justice... Leaving the County for the Feds.

Congrats and good luck! We've lost a few folks to the Feds, some like it way better, some come back. I hope it is what you are looking for.

I left my job of 23 years in July.
Hard decision? Not at all, it had run its course and I was burned out.
This is gonna sound silly, but after watching the way our elected officials in this state steamrolled their constituents, disrespected the sheriffs and sucked front tit of the Bloomberg, Tom Mausers and such and then to speak with Hick personally (via a radio show) and tell him that this was not an objective debate and process, that his cabinet members ignored the public and sheriffs only to hear him say basically "Too bad".....well it stuck in my craw and there was no way, shape or form I could represent that in ANY way.
Add to that the job duties that I held (data specialist-plugging the same numbers everyday into the same program) and some changes in hierarchy I was done.

It can be a hard decision to make, or it can be very easy depending on your circumstances.

Either way, you've opened the page to a new chapter into the book of: "JM ver 2.0, the Saga continues"......

Good luck J.M. I just did oral boards for Adams last Friday. Found out I passed, but I'm not in the top 15, so if people fail their backgrounds, they'll be adding to the pool from #16 onward.

You're still young. Quitting a job might seem like "the most difficult decision" you've ever made but I'm sure there will be bigger and tougher decisions in your future.

Best wishes.

Im the opposite. I don't mind the job but just can't stand the people I have to work with.

Self employed, huh?

Just kidding. I used to brush off my "chronic whiner" (not lumping you in there) coworkers as lazy, etc., until a few years ago. Morale where I work is the lowest I have ever seen it. I will be moving on as soon as the opportunity presents itself (17 yrs in). I can hardly drag myself to work lately, and I enjoy what I do.

Good luck to you with your new job.

Leaving local for fed is just a way of changing pastures. The grass is still the same color.

It took me a while to realize that regardless of how much or how little impact I make while on any job, within a week or less of leaving, few if anyone remembers who you were or what you did. I've seen it many times; some employee retires after many years (good people and bad). Within days, their desk/office/work space is reassigned and life goes on. With a little turn over, you mention some project/case/assignment Joe did a great job on and half the people there look at you and say, "Joe who?"

Do your best but know that every minute you spend with family and friends is worth one hundred hours at work.

Going to Quantico or Brunswick?

Be safe.

Glynco. Which is, in a sense, Brunswick.

I know it well. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynn County Georgia, just north of Brunswick. Enjoy PAM's #1, St Simons and Sally's Cop shop.

Welcome to Club Fed.

If you know it well you might be getting a PM from me... Training is only going to be three weeks. But I'll need something to do for three weeks.

At least it won't be during the tick and chigger season. It's been about seven years since I was there last and the paper mill in Brunswick was either not active or closed because the aroma was decided less sulfury than the other eight or nine times I've been there.

FLETC is like a community college for fed LE. You either hate it and can't wait to get out or you like it and go back often until you get a job as an instructor.

If you get a long weekend, you can easily drive down to Disney World in Orlando. Brunswick is almost one hour north of Jacksonville, FL and one hour south of Savannah, GA. Best St Patrick's Day in the country is in Savannah. Plenty of fishing around the area, but not much else.

PM any questions and I will do my best.

You speak my language..... I was actually looking up how much a fishing license would cost me out there.
