So, on my wishlist right now I have (for Remington R1 1911-probably in this order):

1. Wilson Combat Lo-Mount Adjustable Rear Sight, Bo-Mar Cut, Tritium (http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Lo-Mount-Adjustable-Rear-Sight-Bo-Mar-Cut-Tritium/productinfo/428BT/) and

Snag-Free Front Sight, Tritium, .150" (http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Snag-Free-Front-Sight-Tritium-150/productinfo/367TF150/) (I'm not completely certain as to the height of the front sight-I'm shooting pretty low right now, so I'll have to measure and adjust)

2. DP 1911 Single Stack No Gap Ice Magwell with Arched Aluminum Mainspring Housing, Black

3. Ambidextrous safety-This is where the question comes into play. The Swenon safety has solid reviews and its 83 vs the Wilson bulletproof at 145, with rave reviews. I know you get what you pay for, but is the extra 60 necessary in a safety? I dont mind paying for quality, I just want to make sure I'm doing it wisely.

Thanks for your input.

In my experience, Swenson parts require a bit more fitting to get them to work in your gun. If you are mechanically inclined, they are a good choice. If you want something that is a little bit easier to fit (not necessarily plug-and-play), Wilson parts are a better choice.

If you're worried about the price of the Wilson BP parts, just get their regular ambi safety for $60? Not sure what your intended application for your pistol is, but if you're comparing a Wilson part to a Swenson, I'd get the cheaper Wilson part. I'd recommend a Harrison safety, as that's what I use, but it's only single side. Whatever you decide, be sure it's fitted to the sear correctly and absolutely NO MOVEMENT of the sear occurs with the safety engaged and trigger being pulled.
