So I've been working weekends as a bouncer at the tailgate in Parker to make some extra money for about 5 months now. Tonight I was standing on the patio and heard a god awful scream from over on Main Street and see a guy drag a girl kicking and screaming into a white van and try to take off down main street. Luckily one of Parker PDs police officers that frequents the bar just to check on things was pulling up in his cruiser and heard the girl scream. He sees me running after the van and cuts them off and pulls the idiot out of the van. Turns out it was a bunch of high school dousche bag fucking kids that thought it would be funny to pull a kidnapping prank in front of the bar. They didn't think it was funny when half if Parker PD showed up a couple minutes later. I did get some gratification out of seeing tears rolling down their faces when they were about to go jail, fucking morons.

They probably saw the movie old school and thought to reenact. Who knows what else they would have found funny after that. Glad they got nailed

OOPS, use of deadly force to stop a kidnapping is legal. That could have been a bad day all around.

C: The other person is committing or reasonably appears about to commit kidnapping as defined in section 18-3-301 or 18-3-302,

The first thing that came to mind is this was not a prank. They got caught in the process of kidnapping and tried to play it off. Maybe I'm just in untrusting asshole but that's how I see it. P

I don't get it at all. The last thing I would have wanted in high school was the attention of law enforcement. That's just where my real problems would begin, because my parents would have made me wish that I was never born.

I'm right there with you. If I had to guess, they all know the girl and she shut one of them down or did something to get him riled up. He convinced his gang of shitheads to nab her so that they could "put her in her place" or some similar sociopathic nonsense, then when Parker PD had 15 rounds of .40 pointed at them, they pretended they were just "scaring a friend from school for fun."

So dad we thought it would be funny to pull a prank and fake kidnapping a girl in front of cops. The whole thing was.... Dad?.... Dad???

Sorry kid, you only get one call. [ROFL1]

They were lucky to not be shot!

Did the victim know this was a prank? Was she in on it too just to get attention? If not, I hope they get what they've got coming to them.

Unless she was part of the joke! maybe she was in on it, and collaborated the story???

I'm sure we've all done something in our teenage years that we look back on with the "what the hell was I thinking" feeling now. That being said, this goes way beyond anything that fits in that category. At some point before doing something stupid, there should be a trigger that goes off in at least one of these morons' heads saying "wait, we could be shot and possibly killed doing this". Kidnapping is not a "prank", and I hope they are taught a serious lesson, but at the same time if this truly was a prank and the person being kidnapped was involved in setting it up I hope they don't get charged and convicted with any type of felony as that would screw the rest of their lives up.

Which is why i included this.

Can't armchair QB, what may or may not have transpired had PD not been on sight.

Well, apparently it was just a prank. A really stupid, irresponsible, dangerous prank.

She could have been forced to say that while they were in the car.

^^^^What???? So your saying, even while there's a bunch of cops at the scene, she'd comply with the kidnappers wishes? What??

Reminds me of hearing how my roommate got pulled over. He and some friends were getting into his car, but it was too small to give everyone a seat. The smallest guy decided he'd ride in the trunk, got in voluntarily, etc. However, apparently a neighbor saw, thought he was being kidnapped, and called the cops. They pulled him over and let the other guy out. Surprisingly, their first question was "Why is your hair purple?" (He was a "pocket goth," not full goth but slight bits here and there like a purple streak in his hair)

But yeah, stupid "prank."

When you have a van in high school, I don't think kid napping is what you're supposed to use it for.

Just to clarify the girl was in on it. AND thank god Parker PD happened to be there and I was never in the position to draw anyways

That was my first thought.

Had PD not been there, had some over-zealous CCW holder gotten too jumpy... VERY bad day for everyone involved.

I would hope "some overzealous CCW holder" was there if my wife or son where being kidnapped.

IT'S a double edge sword. Should or should you not?? Again, armchair QB'ing shoulda, coulda, woulda, without being there.

Do you engage the "threat" or dial 911. Which makes a topic of discussion best suited for a separate thread.

Several years before 9/11, a buddy of mine called me up to ask if I could pick him up at Philly International airport. Sure, no problem.

Called another buddy of mine, we suited up all federal looking, dark sunglasses, ear-mics, the whole deal. We met him as he got off the plane, because you could do that back then. Grabbed him in front of everyone put him against the wall, handcuffed him. He was a long hair heavy metal type, so it looked great to all the onlookers. He had enough sense to play along immediately, and we had no problem getting him all the way to the parking garage. No one said a word, they all just watched. It's a shame you can't do stuff like that anymore.
