What the hell kind of nail gun was it? Finish nails? Seems odd to me that someone could physically do that. Sounds a little like an "assisted" suicide to me.

The worst part for me is imagining how you have to have positive pressure for it to fire. That many shots without losing nerve is either serious conviction or not a suicide.
Ok having framed a lot of houses and have actually shot myself with a nail gun I'm calling bull shit. One nail and you'd be looking for something quick and less painful. My nail only went in about an inch and it hurt 10x what you'd think. Shot was followed by about 20 min of profanity.

True story. A friends an EMT in Chattanooga. He goes to a call is walking up to a house when a man walks out on the porch with blood all over his chest and a revolver in his hand. My buddy keys his mike and says the key word "Barney" which alerts the radio people that he is now in a world of sheet and to send help.
Cops show up and instead of assisting his suicide, taze him. They then find out he has shot hisself multiple times in the chest and stomach with a trim gun.
My buddy is working on him and asks..."if you were trying to kill yourself, why didn't you use the revolver?"
guy says, ....."I didn't think of it."

Actually, a nail gun has minimal stopping power (steel projectile fired by .22 blank) and the brain has few pain receptors. Many dimwits have attempted suicide with a nail gun or electric drill. Nothing happens on the first try. By the 5th try most give up and call 911, but a few persevere and do it a few more times.

Most nail guns run on electric or air power and can surely do major harm. The one that uses a .22 blank is called a RamSet and if that guy used one these and shot himself in the head, it would blow right out the other side. I used a RamSet to attach 2X4 and 2X6 posts to a concrete floor and a concrete wall. A normal nail gun won't do it so I don't believe he used a .22 powered gun, which by the way are single shot only in my limited experience.
