My cousin has been battling cancer off and on since she was about 4. Due to the cancer and treatment, she was left slightly special needs. She has had multiple brain surgeries, had her thyroid removed because of tumors, multiple seizures, and many other issues throughout her short life. She has also gained quite a bit of weight and has been given the opportunity to win a special needs "Adaptive" bike. I would really appreciate it if you guys could help nominate her to receive one of these bikes. All you need to do is press the Nominate button in the link.

Just wondering? What is the cost of the bike? I would think we as members might be able to make that happen. Where as donating there just helps her enter a drawing.
Example if this special needs bike costs 700. I would be more than happy to donate 30.

Looks like they are about $750. If she doesnt win it, maybe we can consider that, depending on what everyone thinks. I would easily donate a large portion. I really do appreciate everyone doing this. Its amazing that all of us horrible, people hating, gun owners are willing to rally together to help so many people.
My advice and you can do what ever you want. But I think if the bike costs 750 and you can donate a good portion, that we can just start a fundraiser and just buy her the bike. As it is now, it seems to me that this company is asking for donations for a chance to win and perhaps skimming money off the top to pay for admin costs. I could be totally wrong. I just don't want to give money and then your loved one still has no bike. I would rather put some effort into making sure she got a bike.
Anyone else on board with making this happen?

HEADS UP GUYS... we are shifting the focus here to direct donation to get this little girl a bike. I am going to research local Denver distributors to help this along. The original site puts her into a drawing. I think we as members are the type of people who want to make sure this little girl gets a bike that serves her special needs. I will report back tomorrow after I call around to find a local distributor. I think we can make this happen.

I forwarded that to her mom to see if that will work. I dont think she has a computer at home so it will probably be tomorrow before I hear an answer. She is about 215, and 5'8" ish.

Ok that will be too small for her. I will reach out to other organizations and shops tomorrow. I think this is very doable.

tried from both the wife's phone and mine and got the same thing.
I actually have a spare bike/trike. Would need the seat, as it has a plain one, and a set of exercise bike pedals, and someone to look it over grease it up, it has been sitting for some time in the garage. Is the low step through model so no hopping curbs. Has about 45 mins of ride time on it

That could really be useful. Because really that is all that is is a trike with special seat. I can also work on bikes so I could take that and rehab it and change out the seat. I will research just buying the special seat and pedals.
