What a joke trying to get help from them, the after hours tech support is a joke to say the least. After they couldn't figure out why it is down they told me it's because the modem I bought won't support my super duper high speed 12mb speed service, which is BS. The DSL modem isn't even online and they wasted 20 minutes wanting to know the settings of my computer like that was the cause of the flashing DSL light. I even ran a temp line to their box plugged into the test port with no luck. Maybe it's time to try verizon wifi.

my verizon through my IPOS works great, but I can't run netflix through the hotspot.

Shouldn't you have Comcast?

Yeah, I had Century Link at the house (still do temporarily). Once I get moved into my apartment, I'm switching to Comcast. If they are too costly, I'll look at other options before I go back to Century Stink.

Comcast is far too expensive but also the only reliable, fast option in town.

I can only hope to have something as awesome as Century Link one day. [Beer]

I was finally able to get CL 1.5Mbps DSL a few years ago. They've slowly upgraded me to 12Mbps. It's so nice to be off of satellite. CL has been very reliable for me.

I have century link. My only complaint is that it occasionally quits working. When I does I have to kill the power to the modem and reboot it. Only takes about a minute to get back up and going but still annoying.

I guess it depends on where you live but I've never had any problem with CenturyLink and nothing but trouble with Comcast (who is also evil).

Location Location Location.

CL stinks in some areas of the state.
Comcast stinks in some areas of the state.

Comcast for home, not as good as Comcast for Business. Same goes for CL. Two different types of products and services.

Comcast for Business is EXACTLY the same as for home. Unless your talking fiber to the business. That is flat fantastic. Unless a shovel gets too it.

Ah the joy's to tier 1's ... I know more about DSL then most Tier1 "techs" ( not really techs but script reading phone answerers)

I had one argue that my internal network was the problem tho I kept telling him I was logged into my modem and looking at settings from my computer....

now when they ask if I am directly connected to the modem I just say yes ... tho I'm not LOL ...

And your modem MAY be the issue... they changed the "type" of DSL on me a while back and my trusty old cisco675 would no longer work.

when you have a flashing DSL light ask em to run a loop back test..... or bounce the Dslam and or red back .... if they dunno how.. or say they can't ..... ask for tier 3 support.

My wife talked to them again today so I don't know what they said, I am gonna see if someone close here has a modem I can plug in to test, if it's bad I will buy a new one otherwise I am gonna have to bribe a c-link guy to see what's wrong.

thats either a lower speed tier or your on wifi? In Greeley at least the 25 tier will get you 28 on average and the blast 50 will be around 57, the 100 will be 110-114, hard wired. Their is so much wifi interference anymore that unless you manually set the router channel and find a sweet spot to set the router it will drop quick. I pulled up the wifi app on my droid at a house today and watched 8 different networks all switch from 1 to 6 to 11 almost at the same time constantly, there was a total of 12 networks showing good signal. Of course their gateway was stuck in behind an LED tv. Between the lighting and grow lights at most houses it's a wonder anybody stuff works.

I'm on one of the lower tiers. I haven't felt the need to pay for more. That was from the Macbook Pro upstairs on Wifi using Safari.

My Windows 7 desktop downstairs on IE 11 looks more like this;
43569

There are about 20 WLANs that I see from my home. I pick the less congested channels and compete with the weakest signals. I particularly love it when a neighbor picks something like channel 9 and messes up 6 and 11. Wouldn't it be nice if the manufacturers provided the options of 1, 6, & 11?

I would have to compare fiber to fiber CL/Comcast. Either one gets chopped it's out.
