I really wanted to get this, but as I just got one, I figured I would pass on the news to you all:
It's in the Springs at the EZ Pawn on Fillmore (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=ez+pawn+fillmor+colorado+springs&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&ie=UTF8&hl=en&sll=38.883042,-104.764249&sspn=0.107828,0.160148&latlng=38874685,-104814146,18225634395727078728&ei=kMQJSpS-Ko6YiAPspPyyDA&cd=1). The stock is in good shape with some scratches on bottom, everything else looks 90% or so. The receiver is really dirty, but looks like it would clean up fine. Really the only problem I saw was it's missing the front sight (has the base, but not the sight). It also comes with a scope mount. It's listed for $180, but they said they would take $150 for it.
You can thank me and/or yell at me for not jumping on this deal. :) Is it a good one?

tell them $150.00 OTD w/tax and it's a deal. I have spare front sights for the 10/22 if needed
I can't get down there til this weekend... If someone can pick it up for me I will give them $10 bucks for their troubles.

I'll see if it's still there tomorrow.

If you could, that would be great! My Son & I are gonna do another build & this sounds like what we are looking for. If you get it, PM me & I will meet with you & give you the cash on Sat or Sun when it is convenient for you.

It's still available, but I can't get it for you. As far as I know, it's illegal, otherwise I would be glad to. Sorry.

Yeah, I think it's stupid too!

What exactly would be illegal about a private face to face transaction? Unless he were not legally able to own a gun, in which case, he shouldn't be asking in the first place.
Buying a gun at a store, then selling it privatley to another (not prohibited) person, is perfectly legal.
Oh and the purchase of one gun hardly qualifies it as a straw purchase.

This is the grey area thing. On the form 4473 the question "are you the actual buyer of the firearm..." ...he was asked to buy it by another person. Its so confusing and the chances of getting "busted" in this scenario are so low but you never know and now its out on the net so.... Just my two cents.

At that time, he IS the actual purchaser of the firearm. It would be a little different if he were GIVEN the money directly, to purchase it, but ultimatley, that's not grey, it's black and white.
I could buy a gun today, and sell it to someone else tomorrow, and I wouldn't be breaking any laws, so long as they were a Colorado resident, and I was not aware of any reason why they could not legally own a firearm.
I'm sure just about everyone on this forum has made a private transaction from time to time. I don't lose any sleep over it.
I do understand your comments about it being on the internet though.

Well I couldn't find the actual wording of the questions, but I thought I remembered it asking if you were buying it to resell or something like that. It would be OK for me to buy it and to sell it the same day, but I thought if I bought it with the "intent" to sell, that was the problem. And I also figured that with it being on the net, it proved intent (not that I would lie about it anyway). I could be wrong and if anyone can find the actual questions on the form I'd have to sign, I'll look it over.
I think the gray area is there, but if I recall the question is something like are you intending to purchase the firearm for yourself or another individual... Something like that. Either way, the bottom line is if you are not sure or don't feel comfortable, don't do it. I just lost my job anyway & probably have no business buying another gun, even if it is a good deal. Thanks for looking into it regardless. If I do make it down this weekend & it's still there, I will buy it. If not, then it wasn't meant to be. You said originally it's at the EZ Pawn on Filmore? I can find it, I think I know about where it is. Thanks again for checking.
