Exactly fifty nine years ago today, was my first day in the U.S. Army. Wow, how the time does fly.[Marine]

Today I used the VA Hospital facilities in Albuquerque. Everything worked very smoothly and the employees down there couldn't have been any more accommodating and friendly.

..... And joined when you were a mere 45 years old.
But seriously, I think back when I enlisted at 18 and I'm 42 and it seems like three lifetimes ago sometimes, and sometimes just yesterday.

I was about to say... If anyone doesn't want to feel old stop reading right now...

Better not...

Okay, I warned you:
Ripe old (haha) age of 21 back in 2006. Told ya you'd feel old. To those who came before, those who will, and those who never came home... [Salute]

Not quite a week after turning 20, USAF on Aug 21, 1985.

Oh, and I was one of the "old guys" in Basic.

1955 Bob? Hot off the armistice of the Korean War, into the Laotian Civil War, the 1958 Lebanon Crisis and into Vietnam. Not a good time to be a grunt. Thanks for your service Bob.

Well, I also want to give a huge THANK YOU to all who served too. I really feel that anyone holding the office of POTUS should have served so they have at least an idea what the position of Commander in Chief entails. That could possibly alleviate the kind of crap that we are now being exposed to. [pileoshit]

I Agree 110%! I think you shouldn't be able to send folks to war unless you've worn the uniform yourself... Even AFNG (Like lil' Bushy).

The Founding Fathers didn't think it important enough to make it a Constitutional requirement for the office. I agree it might help with a president's perspective to have served but I don't think it should be mandatory for anyone. Besides...how'd you like to have someone like "Lt Obama" in a leadership position over you as an NCO?
