Promises better communication in the future and he didn't anticipate the push back.
That's clearly not knowing your constituency--we're not all sucking Bloomberg's cock
http://www.9news.com/story/news/local/politics/2014/06/13/governor-apologizes-to-colorados-sheriffs/10510519/
KUSA – Governor John Hickenlooper is offering an apology to some of his fiercest rivals on the issue of gun control: Colorado's sheriffs.
The governor's mea culpa came Friday when he spoke before an assembled group of sheriffs from around Colorado.
A Hickenlooper spokesman confirms that the Governor apologized to the sheriffs for not meeting with them prior to the passage of gun control bills they opposed. Hickenlooper also said his administration didn't do a good job anticipating pushback on gun control. According to his spokesman, Hickenlooper pledged better communication in the future.
That account is consistent with a description of Hickenlooper's comments posted on the Montezuma County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. The sheriff's office posting makes additional claims about Hickenlooper's comments that 9NEWS could not independently confirm without listening to a recording of the Governor's remarks.
9NEWS is attempting to obtain a recording of the Governor's comments from several present at the event.
The County Sheriffs of Colorado Association did not respond Friday when contacted for comment.
Most of Colorado sheriffs are suing to overturn the gun control laws Hickenlooper signed last year, saying they violate the Constitution.

Hickenlooper said he did meet with the former New York City mayor, adding that Bloomberg’s idea was to “take existing gun laws and enforce them.
If that statement is accurate is Hick more anti 2A than Bloomy?

Now that it is clear that Hickenlooper won't be a VP nominee in 2016, that he lacks any support among the various Democratic presidential contender camps (Hillary probably does not even recall his name, given concussion syndrome ...), Hickenlooper is trying to pump air back into his Colorado support.
Pathetically, frankly. He is just saying what we knew, that he was bought off by Bloomberg's cash.

Stupid political ploy to try to get re-elected. Hickenlooper is a piece of garbage.
Worthless, and probably damaging to him. Shows lack of leadership and gets an "I told you so" from us, maybe hurts him with the liberals as well. To say that he "did not know" means he is either lying, or his staff lied to him. I personally met with his chief of staff and legal adviser on this very issue.
When you realize you have made a mistake, you do what you can to rectify the situation. When he sponsors a bill to repeal the stupid laws, I might give him a little credit for being sorry.

Great post from the timeline of Justin Smith (https://www.facebook.com/SheriffJustinSmith):
Sheriffs of Colorado extended the offer to the governor to come address the gathering of sheriffs at our summer conference. This portion of the event was open to the press and was attended by both the Aspen daily newspapers and a press outlet from Grand Junction.
The governor spent about an hour with us. He made remarks then invited questions from the sheriffs. Rather than beat around the bush, Sheriff John Cooke posed the first question about the gun control measures. Sheriff Cooke framed his question around statements that Governor Hickenlooper made at an event in Weld County about being a better listener. His question was simple and direct- why didn't you listen to the Colorado Sheriffs when we attempted to share our concerns about this legislation with you? The governor extended an apology for not being a better listener during this time. He told us things were very busy for him.
I wasn't taking notes, but my recollection was that he didn't apologize for his actions, but apologized for not listening and claimed he really didn't understand the issue until afterwards.
When Sheriff Cooke pressed him about why he supported the legislation without fully understanding it, the governor explained that one of his staff members made a public commitment that he would sign it, so he was obligated to keep the promise of this staff member. I found it shocking that the Colorado governor felt more beholdened to honoring the promise of a staff member over honoring his duty to represent the citizens of Colorado.
In finishing his response to Sheriff Cooke's questions, the governor claimed that he was unaware of the opposition of the Colorado Sheriffs until days AFTER he signed the bills. The governor explained he knew of the position of the Denver Police Chief, supporting the magazine ban bill and the governor used that as his justification for believing that law enforcement officials supported the bills.
He essentially staked his apology on a claim not knowing of our position and concerns until after he signed the bills.
I hadn't planned on asking a follow up to that same topic until I heard that part of his response. So I followed up by reiterating to the governor the extensive press coverage about our opposition and the fact that somewhere around 40 Colorado Sheriffs showed up at the Capitol building to testify in opposition while only one or two police chiefs testified in favor of them. I further explained that our association president had sent a letter to the governor's office expressing our concerns and requesting a meeting. I also told him that I had personally hand delivered a letter expressing my concerns to his office in the Capitol. Given these facts, I simply found it incomprehensible that he claimed he didn't know of our opposition.
I have to tell you that I was utterly flabbergasted at the response he made. From about 10 feet away, the governor looked me in the eye and snapped "I've already apologized, what the f*** else do you want?" Now, I'm a big boy and won't pretend for a moment that it's not language that's foreign to me- but I found that type of attitude and response to be well below the dignity of the office of governor. This was a sitting governor, in a public meeting, responding to another elected official.
From what I've seen, you won't find any reports of that exchange from any of the reporters who attended. That's a shame because I believe it's newsworthy for the voters to know the attitude and demeanor of their governor during this public event.
The important thing to know is that our governor does not apologize for his support of the gun control bills, rather he incredulously denies understanding the bills and blames his staff for committing his support- obliging him to sign the bills.
Sounds like the whistle tune is changing. The "stupidity" laws had more backlash then he expected. Gotta grease the rails for the next election.
I don't buy it.

Hickenlooper apologizes to sheriffs on gun control
Hey Hickenlooper: Take a glass plate and hold it over your head. Now drop it. Look at the shattered pieces of plate on the floor and tell it you're sorry. Did that make it all better? Using legislation to restrict law abiding citizens from protecting themselves and their families has done harm to those individuals (citizens) that an apology can not undo. Fix your mistake, then we'll talk.
ATLANTA — The hundreds of gun-control protesters who crossed the Brooklyn Bridge and marched on New York City Hall on Saturday had an emotional message to deliver about recent school and mass shootings: “Not one more!”
I agree. NOT ONE MORE! Not one more honest, innocent person lost or needlessly put in jeopardy because of all of these unethical, often unConstitutional, and unsafe restrictive gun laws. Not one more life lost because someone stupidly believed that criminals and the mentally unstable will abide by the laws that honest citizens are forced to obey - creating de facto killing zones. Not one more legally disarmed citizen who has to die in terror wishing they'd had the ability to prevent their own senseless death, but were not legally able to do so. Yeah, I agree, NOT ONE MORE!
The anti's love to use posters with pictures of those killed by firearms. It's time the pro-2A side capitalized on this tactic as well. We need to start showing the faces of the victims of these over-restrictive gun laws. We need to show the faces of those killed or injured and the husbands, wives, children, siblings, and parents of the same - all because they weren't afforded the legal means to protect themselves or, in the case of children, be legally protected by an adult. The anti's want to play this game? Let's turn it around on them and show the world that if the laws weren't prohibiting the ability of the Right of self-defense, these lives wouldn't have been lost or destroyed. They say "enough"? Well damn it, so do I!
blah b;ah blah, typical politician lying to the opposition.

blah b;ah blah, typical politician lying to the opposition.
Well, you know what they say about politicians......if their lips are moving,
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper Sunday expressed skepticism that tougher gun laws would have stopped suspected gunman James Eagan Holmes from unleashing "terrorist" acts against 70 people in an Aurora movie-theater.
"This person, if there were no assault weapons available, if there were no this or no that, this guy's going to find something, right? He's going to know how to create a bomb. Who knows where his mind would have gone. Clearly a very intelligent individual however twisted," Hickenlooper said during an interview on CNN's "State of the Union."
The governor, who appeared on at least three Sunday morning talk shows, said his administration "will try to create some checks and balances on these things, but it is an act of evil."
"If it was not one weapon, it would have been another, and he was diabolical," he said.
Hickenlooper, who also referred to the alleged gunman as "warped," a "creature" and a "twisted, really delusional individual," said Holmes was not cooperating with police.
Fucking lying hypocrite knew EXACTLY what he was signing...
I sent him an email after his Nathan Dunlap non-decision suggesting he do right by the victims' s families and not run for another term. Never got a response. Guess the fact he is running is my answer. Now that he's apologized to the sheriffs, maybe the families are next. Gotta pick up votes where ever you can find them. What a dick!

One of the signs of a great leader is second guessing your decisions.
We are so lucky to have him.
Maybe he imbibed in some of his Amendment 64 and saw God.
As was astutely noted earlier I think this illustrates his future aspirations (politically) are virtually nil other than here.
Hmm, maybe he was double crossed by those in the east.

One of his statements to the sherrifs is very telling:
We were well known to be there,” he said. “We stopped by your office, talked to your staff. I know our organization president sent a letter ...”
“What more apology do you want?” Hickenlooper interrupted to laughter. “What the f---? I apologize!”
He reiterated that there needs to be a better process in the future for gun legislation.
“Again, if we knew it was going to divide the state so intensely, we probably would have thought about it twice,” Hickenlooper said.I think this part is especially telling, when he was talking to the sherrifs:

OK, anytime I try to select text, the screen resizes, and I loose control of what I can select.
Anyway, he plainly states there will be future gun legislation. And you just know if he is re-elected, that future legislation won't be in line with this apology. Deception is their oldest trick in the book.
In the words of joe Wilson, "you lie!" Hickenlooper.

Demonstrates just how incompetent Hickenlooper is, even at lying.
That two faced snake can suck a horse cock while signing the bills that repeal all of them, as well as signing a bill allowing CCW holders no background check required, full autos made in this state and sold in this state legal, over the counter suppressors same as the full autos. Only then will I accept his apology. Until then I won't explain my full view of the pos that he is.
Remember this and donate to his opponent's campaign this year. I am hoping for Kopp as I think he provides the best chance at winning, but whoever it is, at least donate $20 and get a yard sign.

I hope their is an audio recording of this. Would make for a great anti hick commercial,
Also the statement about him signing them because an aid said he would. Showing that saving some piddly aids face is more important than listening to those that really matter.
Up for re election are we???
Uh hu.Typical backpedal tactics to look like he's on our side...
Wanna really mean it?Repeal your B.S......
Ok, so let me get this straight: "He did not know".... After ALL of the rural Sheriff's tried to tell him, local news said it was devisive, national news said it was devisive, we marched on the capitol... Several times, Bloomberg called him personally, Bloomberg came to town with his bus, Hick was talking with Moron (morse) and ram rodding them through the legislature, all of the gun shop owners tried to talk to him, he was personally at several gun regulation speeches with people protesting, he was personally at the open debate on the subject (I was there with several of you guys), Kopel told him how bad the laws were, Kopel went to Congrssional hearings on the subject..... there WERE national congressional hearings on the subject, there was threat of a lawsuit (and now there is one), Magpul was talked to by both the legislature and Hicks team to try to get them to stay and most importantly, as stated by several on this forum.......... The People Tried to Talk to Him ........................... There are two questions:
How could you say you did not know and even if so
What the hell does it take to get you to listen????
ooooooohhhhhhh...... It takes an election year. Got it. ;)

His chief of staff threatened to walk if he signed the execution order for Nathan Dunlap. I'm going to guess she was also responsible for this fiasco. Roxane White is her name.
From the state website:
"Roxane White is well known for her dedication in community service and experience within the public and private sector, as well as passion and expertise in efficient leadership. As Chief of Staff to Gov. John Hickenlooper, White is in charge of the daily functions of the State of Colorado and oversees all Cabinet members. White uses her management and leadership expertise in managing budgets, acquiring exceptional staff, and overseeing acquisitions and mergers.
White was rated as fourth most powerful person in Colorado by 5280 Magazine and the third most powerful woman by Denver Post in 2012, as well as numerous other accolades including “Women of Power” by the Colorado Women’s Chamber for 2013.
In September of 2009 she was appointed Chief of Staff to then-Mayor Hickenlooper and served as Chief of Staff through the election and transition into the Governor’s Office. From 2008 to 2009 she served as the executive director of the Timothy and Bernadette Marquez Foundation, and prior to 2008 she served as Manager of the Denver Department of Human Services and served as a member of the Mayor’s Cabinet. Before coming to work for Mayor Hickenlooper, White spent 16 years developing outcome based programs for homeless youth in Colorado and California and served as CEO of Urban Peak.
White created and chaired Denver’s road home, a 10-year plan to end homelessness, and has served on the Biennial of the Americas board, Downtown Denver Partnership’s Civic Venture Board and the Denver Public Schools Foundation.
White was born and raised in Montana. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Ore., and master’s degrees in Social Work and Divinity from San Francisco State University and San Francisco Theological Seminary respectively."

He didn't know...
About his former employee who murdered Donnie Young.
About the possible repercussions of Amendment 64.
About the son of a substantial Hick supporter who murdered the head of Corrections.
About the will of the people in 3 recall elections.
About the enforcement of the death penalty in the case of a convicted mass murder.
If further firearms legislation would have prevented Aurora.
The highest ranking law enforcement officials in his aegis strongly opposed pending legislation.
That those same officials were essentially muzzled by his subordinates during discussion of aforementioned legislation.
Again that those officials contacted his office directly and in an official capacity.
That the aforementioned legislation was opposed by an overwhelming percentage of the citizens of the state.

UPDATE: A Hickenlooper spokesperson has responded to the allegations that Hickenlooper has refused to meet with Sheriffs. See tweet below. Pending review sounds like the gubernatorial version of postpone indefinitely, but we’re glad Hick and his people have changed their minds, as we predicted they would.

Democrats have clearly had their fill of the Colorado Sheriffs. The Sheriffs publicly pummeled the gun control caucus in testimony before the State Senate last week.
Every major paper in the state aired some version of this picture.
http://coloradopeakpolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/734543_258383447631196_1103619622_n-300x2001.jpg (http://coloradopeakpolitics.com/2013/03/11/allegation-hickenlooper-refuses-to-meet-with-sheriffs-after-their-opposition-to-gun-grab/734543_258383447631196_1103619622_n-300x200/)
Sheriffs have also played an oversized role in publicly targeting gun controllers, on TV and the radio:
And Mayor Bloomberg’s gun control lackeys are none-too-pleased.
Our sources tell us that Governor Hickenlooper refused a meeting with the Sheriffs last week. Rewind: John Hickenlooper, Mr. Why Can’t We All Get Along, refused to meet with Sheriffs.
Hickenlooper is starting to take this stuff personal. First an attack on protesters (http://coloradopeakpolitics.com/2013/03/07/hickenloopers-lip-turns-nasty-guv-says-pro-gun-protesters-a-minority-not-mainstream/), and now this.
This won’t last long. Governor Hickenlooper will have to eventually face the Sherrif’s posse. It, however, says a lot about how personally he is taking all this that he wouldn’t meet in the first place.

Perhaps we're talking about two separate things--i'm talking about the protests outside the capitol, not the hearings on the inside--where clearly they weren't heard. yet, had they bothered to come out to the outdoor protests, they could've spoken all they wanted. But they didn't.

Thank you for sharing your first hand account of this discussion. If there was an audio or video recording of his statement we could get passed around this would be HUGE in the efforts.
I wonder if I could get away with telling 40 sheriffs "what the F***? I apologized!"
Shit, you couldn't get away with that with the newest rookie deputy sheriff on the street. Pretty sure this will drop off the radar shortly as the media will get preoccupied with something else.

I'm quoting this for how wrong you are going to be in a few months.
Nobody hopes that are right & I am wrong more than me. I guess I just don't have as much faith in my fellow Coloradans or the Republican party in CO to not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

So he lied???? [Shock] An actual apology would be in the form of righting the wrongs committed. Unless he were to do that it's not a real apology.
I swear that asshole has a chair mounted on a rail so he can slide back and forth across the fence, so he can kiss whatever asses his handlers tell him need kissing at any given moment.

That goes along with Michele's comment about "...until we can control what people think...". These politicians seriously bottom line believe in i-don't care-what-party-you-are-in-want-to-control-people-and-subjugate-them.

Didn't realize how many "large capacity mags" there were ???
WE TOLD YOU IN TESTIMONY!!!
You HAD a major manufacture of them in your state !
No clue it was going to divide the state?
How the hell did you miss all the protestors outside your office?
Even if you somehow didn't see them how did you not HEAR THEM? We could hear the horns honking on the audio tapes from the senate offices ! Heck I could sometimes hear them at my house!! ( 19 blocks away !)
And what were the other "big bills" taking all of his attention? I don't recall much more then these anti gun bills and they dominated the news cycle. ( or at least that is how I remember it )

"How many apologies do you want?, what the fuck" I didn't realize this was caught on tape. Please tell me this is not doctored.
As far as the staffer making promises that he felt forced to live up to... It really makes me wonder what other kind of shady crap he and his administration is involved with. This asshole is the exact reason why Americans need guns.

I have Standard capacity mags. The same Capacity that our military and our Warrior Cops have and that is the way it should be.
The Military and Warrior Cops are being treated as a higher class of humans than the citizenry. Incorrect.

The 40rnd PMAGs are high cap, higher than standard. Alot of those were shipped out last year. The 20s are still my favorite though.

what odds on these vids dissappearing or getting taken down prior to then? hopefully the originals are kept safe and enough offline copies exist to make sure that doesn't happen....

There are plug ins for both Firefox and Chrome that allow you to DL the video file with 1 click. There will be no shortage of mirrors.

I wonder if they can be played uncensored, for shock value. (and because censorship is wrong in every case)

So apparently Hick supported the mag limit because one of his staffers promised his support. Who's running the show down there? Some other great comments in this story that will make your blood boil.
http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_25990350/hickenlooper-supported-gun-magazine-limit-because-staffer-promise
"Gov. John Hickenlooper told county sheriffs at a recent gathering he felt conflicted about supporting a bill that limited ammunition magazines, but because one of his "staff made a commitment," he felt compelled to sign it into law."
After he signed the bill into law, Hickenlooper told the sheriffs, he was told his staff went back and got facts they "should've had from the beginning," which revealed "roughly 300,000 magazines that carried more than 15 rounds" were already in Colorado.
"How's a police enforcement officer going to tell which is the old one? The new one?" Hickenlooper said.

Video below shows Hickenlooper and his "What the Fvck" comment to Justin Smtih.
http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2014/06/john_hickenlooper_what_the_fuck_video_wtf.php
Quoted from Justin Smiths FaceBook.
Where does our governor now stand on the gun control laws he signed in 2013?
9 News reached out to me for this story, but I was on the road back from the conference, so I wasn't able to respond in time for their story.
The County Sheriffs of Colorado extended the offer to the governor to come address the gathering of sheriffs at our summer conference.
Hickenlooper is a colossal failure, along with Bloomturd and those like him. They will continue to spew their twisted rhetoric and the sheeple will sop it up like cow's milk. We need to keep our voices heard, and loud. Keep teaching our children that it is important to stand up and have a voice against the .gov running our lives and treading on our Constitution. Don't let them get brainwashed by those Libtards and be fooled into thinking "Just let the gubment run our lives, it'll be great!"
He's catching too much heat from the left for his recent comments. Too much waffling. Thanks for clarifying, Hick.

In his first interview on the subject, Hickenlooper told FOX31 Denver that he wasn’t aware he was being filmed last Friday during a meeting with the sheriffs in Aspen when he appeared to backpedal on the magazine ban, agreeing with one sheriff that it was unenforceable and telling the group that he didn’t expect the legislation to even make it to his desk.
So it's ok to lie through your #%@&*( teeth when you're NOT being recorded?
Is anybody else extremely happy this was taped? I honestly didn't think we could get him out before this. Now I do.
