My new Stihl FS 130R trimmer does, that is. What a beast! Made short work out of a large section of the property where the grass and weeds and thistles were waist high and difficult to walk through. Didn't even slow it down. But it sure likes to eat trimmer line. I picked up some "professional grade" .105 line at the local hardware store because Big R was all out of good quality Stihl-branded line. I guess the Chinese have a different definition of "professional grade" than I do.
It took a little learning curve to figure out that there's no need to prime the damn thing to start it as the directions say (press the primer bulb 5 times). Yeah, right. If you want to flood it. I had to take the plug out 3 times to dry it out. Now, even cold, no priming, no choke. Pull the cord and the little 4-cycle engine fires right up. Pretty much only has two speeds, though...full throttle and idle. Not much in between.
Anyway...if any of you guys were like me and wondering if dropping the coin on a high end trimmer is worth it, it is. I bought some pre-mix fuel and that doubled the warranty from 2 to 4 years. Highly recommended, just like their chainsaws.

What is the purpose of premix fuel for a 4 cycle engine?

The 4-mix engine is a 4 stroke but it still gets it's lubrication from the mixed fuel rather than a traditional crankcase.

Had not heard of that before, thanks for the education.

... or some extra bodies you have laying around... just sayin.
Nice.
I picked up a Stihl FS56, last year, just for the thistles and mullins. Smaller but Stihl plenty of power. First thing I did was get the largest diameter line I could. The line that came with the trimmer sucked.
I hate yard work, so anything that makes it faster/easier works for me.

Get rid of the string and slap a set of gator blades on it.
Would really like a Stihl trimmer but have to wait till the Ryobi I thought would only last a season or two (this is seventh season ) bites the dust.

Wouldn't a "beaver blade" be used for clearing heavy bush, not "brush"?

I use one of the Craftsman weed trimmers on wheels. Wore one out I bought in 1999 and bought a new one a couple of years ago. They use .155 line and will clear a city lot in maybe an hour. I use the braided-look line that Sears sells, they last for hours if you don't mow too many rocks.

In Bailey's defense, use of the word "weed" in any post title infers different things in CO now... [facepalm]
