Rafting is "cool" so those deaths are considered acceptable.

We just need to ban "assault rafts" that are capable of holding more than 10 people. Who needs that many people in a raft at one time?! This is gross negligence, God didn't design rivers to hold these high capacity rafts. Rafts this large have no sporting purpose and can't be used for hunting!
How many confirmed kills with scary black rifles?

Actually it's the high capacity rivers that are doing all the damage. They must be limited!

If it could save one Crawfish, wouldn't it be worth it.

Is there not a water bill or 2 on the ballot this year?

Where you going? Cataract Canyon, Ladore, Grand Canyon?
Nothing beats Cataract Canyon at high water.

Yampa.
We did Lodore three years ago during the last big snowmelt year when the Green was 4000 cfs at the start and 29000 cfs at the confluence of the Yampa.

You will love "The Hole". Should be plenty of water to make it a monster.

"No rafter left behind" isn't gaining any momentum ?

Nah, we won a private permit. My wife has a 14ft Hyside with oar rig. I paddle up front to keep us out of trouble.

Sweet. We used to run it with 16' Havasu in the early 80's.
Skirt the Hole and try to keep it off the wall. That current will drive you into that canyon hard enough to break bones or suck you into the Hole and dump you in.

Liberal/environmentalist activity.
It gets a pass.
Liberals will use the same line as they do when vehicle fatalities are brought up: The primary use for rafts is transportation/entertainment. These deaths are therefore "accidents."

it's kind of vague for whitewater specifically. However the statistics for drowning in general is interesting. Of course the AG crowd feels pools don't need regulation.

87 in 2012 WHERE'S THE OUTCRY.
During 2012, the following states had the largest number of pool and spa drownings involving children younger than 15 years of age: Texas (17), California (10), Ohio (9), Arizona (8), Michigan (8), Pennsylvania (7), Florida (6), Illinois (6), North Carolina (6), Alabama (5), Georgia (5), and New York (5).
