Here is an interesting little tidbit.

Business Insider

A Mexican military helicopter crossed into the U.S. and fired on two Border Patrol agents in Arizona during the early-morning hours on Thursday, according to Reuters. A Border Patrol agent who Business Insider spoke with on condition of anonymity said that the two agents were in a marked Border Patrol vehicle when they were fired upon.
The chopper missed the two agents and returned to Mexico. Mexican authorities later contacted the U.S. to apologize for the incident, according to KVOA-TV Tucson.

However, Border Patrol Agent and Union Vice President Shawn Moran isn't buying it. In an interview with Fox News, Moran said, "The Border Patrol vehicle was clearly marked and it's very hard to mistake those vehicles for anything else.

Go to the North Korea / South Korea border where they routinely shoot at the Americans across the DMZ. No apologies.

Because "we" have not been a country, other countries respect, or Fear, for some time. Then again perhaps that helicopter did not see Our Line in The Sand.

For every reported incursion, undocumented child, errant OOPS by helicopter, Another cartel drug tunnel uncovered. We ignore unknown number of islamic terrorists Unchallenged in this country.

A number of years ago I was at a class hosted by the Pinal County (AZ) Sheriff's Dept. There were a few BORTAC guys in the class. Some of the stories they told were absolutely mind blowing. Mexican Army HMMVs with mounted M2s 50 miles inside the US. Platoon strength elements armed and in uniform crossing the boarder regularly. Constantly being told to stand down, not engage, back off. It sounded like a very frustrating job. Mind you this was about 2006 or 7. I can't imagine things have gotten less silly down there.

I had a class date for a BP academy back in 89 when I got out of the AF. A few weeks before the start date it was cancelled due to a federal hiring freeze. I was very disappointed. Knowing what I know now, probably one of the best things that ever happened to me.

Not surprising, I heard a few stories from guys in the Army that were from west Texas in the Big Bend and Terlingua area that told stories of the same thing. A few people from the area would swear they saw uniformed, armed Mexican Army personnel escorting civilians over the border once. I was hesitant to believe it then, but anymore I'm not so sure.

Maybe we should start a Twitter or Facebook campaign to tell Mexico about our "outrage." That seems to be the foreign policy strategy at the moment. #Halt or I shall say halt again!

I find it hard to believe that during one of their ground-based incursions, they never stopped at AAA and picked up better maps for their pilots. I'm calling BS.

Do you think we'd get into trouble for firing upon them? That or maybe we should just take them over and annex them, they're already jumping the boarder so why not just take over their country too?

Firing at an armed helicopter may not be the wisest idea.

It's not a problem be it .308 or 338 lapua. Hell a 300wm will put a dent in their day, real quick. First light off a bunch of 8-12oz rockets, or other aerial firework displays. The clutter will mask heat heat signature and or confuse point of origin when fired upon. Hypothetically.

With small arms the pilot or tail rotor is the ticket. If you can draw them into a hover while trying to target something all the better...

That's what I understand anyway.

A helicopter is just a collection of parts looking for a place to crash anyway...

I can walk down the block, load up on fireworks, pay cash. 37mm not as easy. Besides the chaff from aerial fireworks clutters their radar. Flare gun is like Bang, over.

Also i figure once chopper 2 drops, like a bag of heroin in the shitter during a DEA raid. Them there Mexican AWthorities might have their pantelones in a knot, and try en mass to dissuade any more surface to air hostilities.

If you want to really fuck with them, a bunch of cheap RC heli's ($14-49 ea) going up combined with those cute, happy birthday mylar balloons, could throw a habenaro in the gears.

Honestly a scoped .308 is the best way to take down a scout helo. Or even a cargo bird. Those windscreens and chin bubbles are pretty thin plastic and a non expanding projectile goes right through them without much deflection. Just wait until they come into a hover and pop the pilots. If they have FLIR equipped then some cluster fireworks will blind that longer and in a worse pattern than a flare will. Full on attack birds like the Apache and a couple of Russians are the only ones that provide real protection to the pilots.

Source of knowledge is 7 years of Army helicopter repair experience and seeing a UH-60 come back from a ranger drop off that took hits from AK's in Afghanistan. Most military helos have gearboxes and transmissions that can take a hit from a .50 BMG and not destruct, while also giving about 1/2 hour of emergency operation with no oil.

A legal question: Can a private citizen shoot at an invading foreign military helicopter that was seen shooting at US troops?

You'll be charged with terrorism and the CBP agents getting shot at will be charged with dereliction of duty for not shooting you.

Once upon a time, private citizens defending their homes by firing on foreign military forces engaged in combat with officials of the US government would have been categorized as militia and deemed heroes. Today, Eric Holder would prosecute them for doing what the USG has failed to do.
