A California Congressman named Mike Honda has submitted H.R. 5344, “The Responsible Body Armor Possession Act,” to the United States House of Representatives. In a recent statement, Honda said, “There’s nothing more dangerous than what a well-armored, unstoppable active shooter can do. This bill is common-sense and long overdue.”
More "common-sense" legislation. [Bang]
I doubt it will pass - this time.
But, get your armor while you still can.

So I assume this would ban those bullet proof book bags and such for children?
Again, leftards putting the children first  <-(note that the roll eyes smiley on this board is nowhere near sarcastic looking enough ... this one would be much better http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-rolleyes008.gif )

Now you're thinking, that never crossed my mind. Anything for their agenda to "make us safer" I guess.

So I guess now the example used for the introduction of this bill are inaccurate.
“[W}hile speaking about my introduction of The Responsible Body Armor Possession Act, I referenced a shooting in Riverside County, California. My staff has been informed that some of the information I gave about that shooting, specifically that the shooter was wearing body armor, was based on media reports at the time which have turned out to be inaccurate,” Honda said.
“While this incident did not involve a gunman wearing body armor, there have been too many other cases where a well-armored gunman has injured and killed citizens and police officers,” Honda said. “This bill seeks to help law enforcement protect us, and themselves, in an active shooter situation.”
Please give your examples, as if this make the bill not stupid.

Well, derpy, derpy, derp and Dee-dee-dee-dee. Some *L* politician used "unfacts" to support their stoopid, ill-informed, emotionally motivated position?
This is my shocked face.

Body armor like guns, is already prohibited for felons to have in their possession. Any violent crime committed while wearing it can add charges, time and points to a person.

Pretty sure the felony conviction has to be from a crime of violence, too. So non-violent convictions would not prohibit a felon from purchasing/possessing body armor under federal law. I could be wrong.

Do felons have problems buying guns & body armor now?

So last time I checked, even body armor has weaknesses. I know that if you have any soft/concealable body armor, rifle rounds can still stop you. Just another politician aiming at something they don't understand.

I guess if his name was Mike Ford instead, we wouldn't have that problem.[Sarcasm2]
Those guys in Sac just sit around thinking of ways to restrict freedom and spend money they don't have. I love Cali, but they're way past destroying any possible liberty in the state.

He was able to sever his ties to Yee, w/out any fed snooping. That's fairly smart, for now
All the legislation is purely reactionary, and completely emotional, that is why we can't afford to let politicians into office who have such childish ideas
Anymore... I'm sure you meant anymore.

1. This law is stupid. But it is anti-freedom california.
2. Body armor is defensive in nature, why shouldn't we have access to it?
3. How many low level thugs can actually afford body armor? It is not exactly cheap. Especially rifle rated plates.
4. Even after this law is passed you can still by the steel plates used for competition. (which are multi-strike capable) Tie rope through the mounting holes and sling around your neck. Yes, it is very ghetto but legal and bypasses this crap law as usual. And you will still be able to buy the ballistic panels that you stick in a briefcase or backpack, once again bypassing the law.
5. Why do politicians who know nothing about the available technology think they know how to regulate the industry? Bunch of dumbasses!
6. If this is all about officer safety, well cops should be trained to transition to head or pelvic shots if center mass do not work. If they can't do that maybe they shouldn't be carrying guns.
My $1.02 worth.

They are legislators If they don't legislate/ create some / any law, they aren't doing their job
You answered your own question. Look the CIC just created an EBOLA CZAR. Of all things he could of done. He created a position and filled it. NOT a surgeon, doctor or someone from the infectious disease sector. NO HE GAVE IT TO SOME PR Hack. We now have our very own Baghdad Bob. Or as i believe he should be called EBOLA ED.

Yup, and this in response to the masses who cried "Just Do Something"! Well, Beeho did something. He created a position to do the job that others are already tasked with doing.

On another note, I was at the Tanner yesterday and asked a vendor who I know pretty well why he wasn't carrying Ebola hazmat suits. He said he had already had 4 people yesterday morning asking about them! Oh, and many more body armor vendors than before. Good article on Body armor options in the latest Recoil magazine.

yeah, investing in hazmat gear is definitely the way to go right now. Buy now and wait a month or two and you might be able to sell for a several hundred percent ROI.
As as for the article in Recoil... That prompted me to do more research and make a purchase. :)

Californiastan has been on the cutting edge of STUPID for a long long long time..
working under the belief that the responsible, well behaved, members of society need to be treated like idiot children and dictated what is safe for them..
I was talking to my Mom (still lives in a Tulsa Suburb) she made the point that crime in Tulsa is up but the surrounding area was not seeing a huge jump, I replied, that because once you get out of Tulsa its mostly suburbs and ranch/farm land were the majority of them are armed, criminals largest fear is running into someone with a gun.
that's not an issue in California cause only Cops and criminals have guns, everyone else is a statistic on their monument to those killed by firearms..
Chicago is an example of what could happen in Cali but they are blind.
