If I advertise a gun for sale and a CO state citizen says "I'll take it" but I am 200 miles away, I'll have my buddy who is in the Denver area pick it up. Is that ok? Any legal issues in a private party sale?

He seems legit, paying cash no check scams or anything like that. The guy that will end up with the rifle seems like a gun guy and has a few trasactions I've been able to track, he appears to be able to buy it legally. I think it's sincerely true that he's 200 miles away (caller ID supports that), but I'm still not sure that's a legal transaction. I think the "straw sales" issue only applies to an FFL holder, which I am not, but want to make sure. Any comments? Just want to keep it legal!

Sell it to the "friend" and what he does with it after that is none of your business/concern.

1) it is not a "straw pruchase" because it is not being purchased from a FFL by someone for another person who is unable to purchase a firearm

2) as for "appears" to be buying it legally. your only obligation, if you feel you need one is. Ask if they can legally own a firearm, are a felon, for handgun, resident of CO

3) it is a "private" sale either sell the gun or don't. that is your choice. forget this PC brady BULLSHIT.
want to CYA then ask the buyer to sign a bill of sale, which leads into the grey area. WHO are you the seller and WHAT are you going to do with my info.
in this case a simple BOS with their name as verified by picture ID. just get their name and nothing else., Don't forget their money!

HOWEVER if you have gone this far to CYA, and still have concerns, maybe you shouldn't be selling a gun except through a FFL.
