Well, I don't really know what the tough people do, but I made souffles:

I don't have enough ramekins for all the batter, and I've never changed recipes because this one seems to work at altitude, so I always pour the left-over into the one big ramekin and give it to my 4 year old. He's not as concerned with presentation as with 'chocolate cake!!!'. It probably rose about 1/2 an inch, which is not bad since I didn't coat the sides with butter and sugar for it to cling to as it rose.

Baking...confessions.

I trying to figure out why everyone else got a lot of snow? Where I am at there was only 2-3" on my jeep this morning and it is all melted away now.

That's for darn sure..... It's not even a pavement princess since I can't even drive it!

Looks like you saved 1 for myself and that, whatever it was she's called. Forgot to snap a pic of the home made apple pie with brown sugar glazed topping i made today while the turkey noodle (scratch made also) was reheating.

No pics of some barbacoa ? Major disappointment, neighbor. Looks like a bobby flay throw down's in order.

Did I get overly passionate over Bates boots at some point? Must have had a few too many adult beverages one night as I don't recall, and that's the only circumstance I'd do such a thing lol.

FOUL! You can't post pics like that which get us salivating without sharing the recipe. We've got a "Recipe for the Day (https://www.ar-15.co/threads/19665-Recipe-for-the-Day)" thread you know. I won't chastise the Great Kazoo for this foul as he didn't post pics to his feast.

I'd post in the recipe thread but........ most if not all would be lost when I say. I used garlic, fresh ground sage, red pepper flakes and salt to the ground buffalo. How much? As needed is how I cook. Breads, desserts those are by the book, sometimes.

Pretty good storm but nothing to freak out about. Wife and I took the ATV around the block for a bit. Saw some other neighbors with the same idea. You know you live in a good neighborhood when there are more ATVs out than cars during a storm. Haha.

Shoveled Saturday: 8"
Shoveled Sunday: 3"
Shoveled today: 3" and this was heavier and harder to shovel than the previous 2 times.

Already have a dusting, but it looks to have essentially stopped snowing here - until tomorrow where the local news station said last night we could get a couple more inches of snow.

Have I mentioned how much I hate shoveling snow? I popped 800mg of ibuprofen before heading out. 10 minutes into shoveling this morning my back was SCREAMING at me.

We live in VERY different climates! We got about 7" total. Only about an inch last night and it was pretty powdery.

It's been coming down very slowly, but steady since yesterday afternoon. I'd say there is maybe 1/2 - 3/4" over everywhere I shoveled in the front, and 1" in the back.

MarkCO
02-23-2015, 11:41
We got just over a foot total. Last night maybe an inch or so. Saturday afternoon from about 3-7 was the heaviest snowfall period for us.

Took the kids to school, no problem. On wet to a little slush only snowpack in the neighborhood. Took 3 minutes to shovel the sidewalk, but my driveway is bone dry. :)

You're almost exactly 2 miles due East of me yet I got so much more snow than you.

It's interesting how that works, but I've seen it across town many times. I'm not used to seeing it so profound from East/West, but I've seen dramatic differences at 3 North/South points along Powers Blvd: Barnes, Constitution and Platte. Before they built the overpass @ Platte/Powers I remember one day when we had a major hail storm that left everything covered in white on the North side of Platte. Sitting at the intersection (there was a 4-way light there) looking South, I couldn't see ANY evidence of the hail on the South side of Platte. Always fascinated me.

This is a region of microclimates. It's pretty routine to see one block virtually dry while another neighborhood 1-2 miles over is dumped on. In addition, the wind patterns affect drifts. I'm at the end of a cul-de-sac with a street heading due north from me. Driveways just 2-3 houses away looked like they had 2-3 inches while I shoveled about 3-4 inches Saturday night, 4-6 inches Sunday morning, 3-4 inches Sunday afternoon and another 3-8 inches (depending on where I measured) this morning. Not quite the dry powdery stuff I can sweep away with the shop broom although not quite as wet and heavy as the snows in late spring.

No matter what, I like it and want more of it.

Irving

Snow is coming down pretty hard, heavy, and wet. Streets are going to be a nightmare tomorrow. Weather Underground was saying 5-8" tonight, and I didn't buy it, but it's probably at 4" now. The weather app on my cell phone is showing snow every day until Tuesday. We'll see.

My night and morning have been sub par.

Long story short, I had a server-maintenance window scheduled for last night that took about 5 hours. Delayed starts make for delayed finishes, even when everything goes smoothly. There was a lot of last minute potential-client prep going until 8:30pm, so I sat around waiting. By 1:30am everything was done, but I wasn't interested in a 2+ hour slow and slushy drive home just to get 3 hours of sleep before returning, so i just slept here. At least this way I got 5 hours of sleep... using a tablecloth as a blanket. haha

We have a shower and toiletries, so it's all good.

I swear there needs to be a monster fine for Anyone who caused accident or delays due to improper tires. Heading up 285 last night was an exercises in constant lane changes to get around the idiots stuck on hill spinning tires.

and don't get me started on the GD Morrison police. They are there every day handing out tickets for 5 MPH over the speed limit but I haven't once seen them out on a snow day doing a damn thing.

Agree 100%, improperly prepared vehicles should be duly cited. Unfortunately, there are so many that PD that go to accident alert status, and the fender benders without injury don't get cited.

I grew up in Alaska, where they have the equipment and budget to remove it- not the state-of-the-art "solar snow removal system" that the Front range uses...

the problem here is transplants, and just not enough priority given to removing it from the roads...
At least when I lived there, Anchorage had equipment, personnel and plan to plow streets like every 2-4 hours around the clock... and they don't even get the same amount of snow as say Valdez...(which gets 35-40 FEET every winter)

I even was a delivery driver in Anchorage with a 2wd import pickup (with studded snows & 800# of lead bars in the bed)... you didn't need 4wd unless you were going up hillside- they did a good job of keeping accumulation down.

So Stu, how bad is the damage to your wife's car? Are she & the youngin still feeling okay?

Irving
02-26-2015, 19:05
I think they're okay. They both said they feel a little sore now, but nothing we are worried about. I had assumed that my wife was stopped at a light and someone slid into her. Actually, she was approaching an intersection where she planned to make a right turn. She actually saw the guy lose control behind her in the mirror, and kept moving forward in an attempt to negotiate the turn to get out of the way before impact. She didn't make it and was actually rear-ended while she was moving forward. Good thing she wasn't stopped. I think that is part of the reason the officer was mad at the other driver. My wife saw the situation develop, kept moving forward, and was still able to avoid being pushed into any other cars, so like most rear-end accidents, this was completely avoidable.

It only shattered the rear bumper. Fortunately he has USAA and they've already accepted liability and everything. USAA is a great insurance company to work with, they don't mess around.
