View Full Version : Old motorcycles
I had a chance to take a picture of some of my grandpa's bikes tonight. Sorry for the poor picture quality, the lighting was terrible. I thought some of you guys might be interested in that kind of thing. I believe they are three little Indians and a Whizzer.
Indian

Side car for that bike

Both bike and side car

I believe another Indian, this one has three wheels and some cart on the back.

This one is a 1931 and my grandpa said, "I used to ride the shit out of that '31, till I blew it up."

Finally, the Whizzer

Edit: The frame behind the Whizzer is apparently a Ducati.

I know i told you i haved you last time you mentioned some of his stuff. ....................Yep, still hate you. The 2 letters before the numbers on the left side case, on the raised / boss will tell you the tear. The SIL's father in law had a warehouse full of Indians and HD's. Saw many an inline 4cyl there, never a trike. That's some serious collector pieces he has. Hopefully they stay in the family.

I believe they rode either the red one or the yellow one to Sturgis many years ago. I thought they trailered the yellow one more recently (10 years ago?), but I'm pretty sure one of them was ridden there and back at some point.

That leaf spring front end Indian chassis (31) he have the motor and trans for it? Hell that tanks a few hundred $$$.
Probably. He's got a bunch of parts up there. There is another completed bike on the main floor of the shop that I've posted pictures of before, but I don't think I have them on hand any more.

Damn...
Thanks for posting the photos. Loved 'em.
Jumping Jesus! You have any idea what those are worth????? What's the story? How is Grandpa? Is he healthy? I hope to God there's plans to save those and keep them in the family!
I hope I'm wrong, but I don't seem to sense a lot of interest on your part - please tell me I'm wrong! Those are far more than "Grandpa's got some old motorsickles....."
I don't know what I'd do with them. Plus, the family will probably get into a big fight over them. There is a 1914 Chevy (with the split windshield) that I've posted pictures of before, as well as a Desoto.
You need to watch a couple dozen episodes of "What's In The Barn" and "Chasing Classic Cars".
Very nice. [Awesom]
Interesting how much less power it took to get around in the "old days".

I've told him this a few times. Know a few folks that would pay top dollar for any of them running or not. That 31 as it sits (rolling frame) would bring a few $K . The right person would probably hand him more money than he's seen at 1 time.

I see an episode of American Pickers in your future !!
yeah, American Pickers, Mike, would be all over those things like stink on a turd. Love em, especially that complete Indian.
If your grandpa is up for it you should take him to see the bikes on permanent display at the Forney Museum. Those are true gems he has!!

Some history there for sure.
I'm pretty sure the yellow one is complete as well. He said something about taking the gas can off to sell, and you can see it in the cart.

You mean seal? Looks like the top mounting tab area has some issues. If he or another family member can't braze it, a competent radiator repair shop can.
Oh he can. He rebuilds these things from dust. He probably won't mess with these any more though to be honest.
Went over there today and told him I put up pictures of all his bikes for my friends and everyone was excited to see them. He said, "All my bikes? That's just a few of them. I got all kinds of bikes." I asked about the motor and transmission for the '31 and he said, "oh yeah, I got everything."

That was my first thought. He goes nuts over old Indians.

Congrats on the small fortune you've got there. Your grandfather knows how to pick 'em and how to hold 'em. His collection looks like the kind of thing auction houses dream of so if your family doesn't want to hold on to them, I'd advise you consult some classic motor auctioneers before letting "American Pickers" anywhere near them. Those guys need to cover their costs too so typically pay half or less of what they're worth.
Whoa, who's talking about contacting American Pickers?
He said something about some Tiger Cubs today, so I think he might have a pair of Triumphs it sounds like.
That is awesome. An original Indian with a sidecar.

I am surely envious
I recently found some old photos that I thought were lost. Just one more Indian and some old Chevy.
