I've been thinking about making the switch. Don't think I will at work because I depend on too much software (some of it old) that might get broken by a new OS.
Main reason I've been putting it off at home is that the new EULA has a couple things I don't like.
1) You can't shut off automatic updates in the "Home" version (which is what I believe we all get for free ... not sure of the "pro" or "enterprise" versions will be free upgrades).
2) They can disable any "unauthorized" hardware. In an effort to stop piracy they can shut down hardware that they don't like ... I don't like them having this power.
3) They can delete any "unauthorized" programs. Not to defend piracy but every time I've seen any system use such draconian anti-piracy methods they always end up destroying files and deleting programs that you have every legal right to be using but somehow don't mesh with what the OS thinks is "authorized".
I dunno ... maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age but this "free" "upgrade" to Windows 10 makes me think of this guy:

I'm curious to see if uTorrent got deleted in the upgrade on my home machine... If it did, I can always roll back to Win7 pro...or Ubuntu...

I have upgraded to it on a guinea pig computer and home and it is working fine. It however did break the VPN and reverting to Windows 7 didn't help.
It does work waaaaay better than Windows 8 but that is not saying much.
Take a look here - http://www.computerworld.com/article/2953666/microsoft-windows/everything-you-need-to-know-about-windows-10.html
You can turn quite a bit of the unwanted features off but time will tell what big brother is sending back to the home base in Seattle

Pro will upgrade to Pro. Home to Home. Enterprise will not be a free upgrade, as it is available through Volume Licensing only.
Ultimate upgrades to Pro as well.
Over 75 million upgrades in less than a month on 90,000 unique tablet and PC configurations, some dating back to 2007. It works out to about 31 upgrades per second.
My main concern with Windows 10 is the endless and seemingly unneeded "Phone Home" communication that is always going on. There are several articles out there that dig into this and try to disable or turn off this "Phone Home" behavior but they can't even when all of the features have been turned off. There seems to be some sketchy under the covers big brother monitoring stuff going on with this OS. This actually makes sense from a "Free" upgrade perspective. They give you the OS for free but then get direct access to mine your data to better market or spam the shit out of you.
Our personal data is exposed enough as it is without the OS throwing you under the bus on top of the current risks. If you do a lot of online banking, bill paying, or shopping this OS would be pretty risky to use if you ask me.

For everyone worried about data collection and reporting, what kind of phone do you use? Do you use Google Chrome? This is happening all the time, and has been for quite a while. Even your bank is selling your info & telemetry data. This is nothing new. Everyone is out to get your Data; MS, Google, Apple, EVERYONE. At least MS is telling you up front what Apple, Google, Etc are doing behind your back.
You want to hide yourself? You have 2 options. 1. Unplug yourself 2. Get smarter and more technical than the trackers.

Don't forget your school district when you register your kids for school is collecting and selling data!!
Gotta love Jeffco and we opted out of the health tracking - Colorado Immunization Information System
Ergh...
Installed it on my laptop and it worked for a couple days and now my computer keeps giving me a cycle of errors every time I try to restart it. I'm going back to the dreaded windows 8 until I can find something I like better.

Rule #1 with Microsoft products: don't even consider installing it until at least a first service pack is released. Otherwise, your just playing around with Beta software.

Then you'll be waiting forever with Windows 10. [Coffee]
Microsoft is moving away from the Service Pack model.

I updated my wife's laptop from 8 and there has not been any issues yet.
I am waiting to update my desktop from 7. I am afraid the drivers for some of my accessories might not work.
Well, so far I am unimpressed. The update broke my home desktop machine(formerly 8.1). It will run for about 15 minutes or so, then the mouse and keyboard stop responding, then I get a "Critical Process Failed" error and it reboots. 4th Gen Core i5 with 8 gig of RAM, integrated graphics, and a 2 TB hard drive. I think I'm gonna wind it back to Win 7 Ultimate.
I upgraded a surface pro 3 to Win10 and generally like the GUI... it's certainly far better than Windows 8.
I do know I cannot install my vsphere client on it though...the old version of .Net isn't present and trying to add it through Programs & Features throws an error. Evidently what I'm seeing, is pretty common too...and requires a complete re-installation of the OS.
Installed ten and promptl dumped it for the piece crap it was an went back windows seven. 10 is really set up more for a phone or tablet not a computer from the experince I had with it.

I have also updated some domain computers to 10 as a test and they have worked flawlessly so far. No network related issues that I have found or noticed so far.

You've been lucky. We're still waiting for some software vendors to catch up.
If you think Windows 10 is made for a phone or tablet, you haven't spent much time with 8/8.1. [Coffee] At least 10 on a desktop still works a lot like a desktop.

You probably just need to enable .NET 3.5.;

The wife's Cisco VPN client doesn't work with 10 yet either, so not upgrading hers yet...

Might have to connect using Internet Explorer instead of Edge.

Microsoft is moving away from the Service Pack model.
They may call it something different, but be rest assured they will be having major bug fix releases like they always have.

Windows 10 will be a continuous 'work-in-progress'. Features will also be released in an on-going fashion.
Once the issue with .NET 3.5 is resolved, I confirmed that vSphere Client 5.5 installs and works like it's supposed to.
It's a VPN to the CU campus for remote desktop. The university IT department has specifically stated that it won't work with Win10, but a new client should be available in the next 30-45 days. We had similar issues when Win7 came out.

Updating my laptop now, so we'll see how it does. I'm not very demanding of my computer, really only use it for documents and printing, so it should be fine for me.
I updated a few weeks and I am getting really concerned. Nothing has gone wrong, and everything is working perfectly. Actually I enjoy the interface and it feels way smoother than 8.1. I have had zero issues, and it actually works perfectly on my ultrabook that has a weird driver configuration. I can't explain what is going on. Also my wife (apple enthusiast) is furious that she likes it more than her macbook pro. It is going to ruin my marriage. I knew there was a catch to this upgrade!
"Honey, it's time to wake up. You'll be late for work".
"Wow. He seems so peaceful. I haven't seen him sleep this well in a long time", says the quizzical bride.
