View Full Version : Gee another shooting in LoDo
What a shock, 4 people hit after the clubs closed this morning, a bunch of cars hit, no life threatening injuries. What's that saying? "Not much good happens after midnight" LOL.
This is why I'm not a fan of downtown

Thinking the same when I heard this.
I drink alone at home, good company no jerks to fight with.

Spent quite a bit of time in Denver yesterday and it was a reinforcement of why I don't go there often.
That's not possible. That is illegal in Denver.
"Not much good happens after midnight"
that
And they're wringing their hands about "why don't more people come and enjoy our wonderful 16th Street Mall?"

Exactly. No one ever said government officials are smart enough to connect the dots.

Sure they are. For them all roads lead to GUN CONTROL. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE NOW!!!
Westword (before they became irrelevant) did some interesting pieces on LoDo. The 2:00am bar closings. Yuts and gangs hanging out to fark with people. Too many drunks hitting the streets at one time. Hip hop clubs attracting young horn dogs.
All seemed to add fuel to the fire.

Can't start a Fire without a Spark.

I think Denver will end up trying to stay "small" longer than they should have and we'll continue to see more problems like this.

The downtown bar phase lasted all of a year for me. I literally couldn't go out without someone trying to start a fight with my friends and I. The insecure, stupid, and/or overzealous will always have a point to prove, and when you have two black guys, a white guy, and a South American all over 6 feet tall together, it's like a giant bulls-eye for people trying to gain credibility. Downtown is like living in an alternate reality after night falls and alcohol is introduced.

My wife still likes going downtown from time to time. I'm content to drink soda with lime & more often than not, something crazy happens that reassures me that carrying while down there is better than drinking.

Yup. If I'm ever convinced to go down there, I always stay sober so I can carry my tools and have the right frame of mind.

Maybe the state should quietly start deporting the illegal immigrants that the police arrest on what I am sure must be a daily basis in the greater metro area. Oh wait, the prog's need the votes.
Never mind.

Of all the issues I've experienced, I don't think any of them were from someone I had assumed to have been illegal.

I'm with Irv on this one. I have experienced 50 to 1 more entitled BRO's causing trouble than I have of someone stereotyped to being illegal.

I'm on with this one too, most of my issues have been with groups of drunk 'bro' assholes, never when they're solo. Or mid-life crisis older gentlemen (that was in DTC though). I have had one instance with a group of Mexicans, but I wouldn't call them illegals. If you're going to pull a bat out of your car ensure you know how to retain the weapon when pointing it at someone 2' away.

I just wish the bro's,the illegals, and the mid-life crisis folks would just unite so profiling would be easier [Sarcasm2]
I grew up in a pretty large college town. There aren't many groups worse that a bunch of drunk bros in a large group. We'd call then "Tods" or "white hats".

happened outside of beta while it was hosting the "white" party a Denver Hip hop tradition held for the last 14 years. Also a denver hip hop tradition is assholes hooting at each other. The Denver Hip Hop scene is fucked. Can't seem to have a club last longer then 1 year that plays hip hop without someone getting shot and killed.
For some reason I feel like that's typical.

Yep, Gansta idiots who attend these events. BTW, the event was with some dipshit hiphop artist named Wale. Never heard of him but he sure brings out the hoodlums.
One would think that Denver police would have a presence around the area knowing the event was happening. It's not like there are never problems when hip hop events occur.
