I went to my younger son's (HS freshman) football game this afternoon. I was talking to my wife and mom after the game while the players were putting all the field equipment away in the shed by the varsity field. I looked over to see where my son was and noticed all the players were stopped and standing looking at something. Then I heard it, just barely, the National Anthem was being played for the varsity soccer game that was starting on the varsity field. The football players, all of them, where standing there at attention looking at the flag, not even talking, even the ones well away from the field. Once it was over many of them clapped and then they went back to putting the equipment away. Made me proud.

Nice. Unfortunately someone has been offended and will contact PSD. OR i'll read the outrage in the Coloradoan tomorrow.
BTW: Nice to see your kid doing the right thing, as usual.

Hell yeah. It's nice to hear a "good" school kid story for a change.

Witnessed another great moment on Friday night at the same high school. It was the start of the basketball game and the PA announcer asked that everyone stand and remove their hats for the national anthem. About 30-40 seconds went by with no music. Then the student section started singing the anthem. After a few lines pretty much the whole gym was singing. When it was over I heard several people around me say "that was great!"
Granted there was about 20 football players there and from my other posts about them it is obvious that they "get it." My oldest son (senior) said he is going to talk to the PA announcer and see if they can do it every game.
Those are great stories. Yesterday my daughter told me that her teacher told her she got a question wrong.... in front of the whole class. She said that was the first time that has happened since she's been in grade school (just moved to Castle Rock) and it made her feel good to know she made a mistake. She wasn't upset at all that the whole class heard.
