View Full Version : F@$@ thieves
Car was stolen on the 23rd of March and recovered 2 days later 2 people inside and they where arrested
It took 9 days for the estimator to come out and another 9 to get an answer about it.
in less than 36 hours they destroyed the transmission and caused all sorts of other damage to the point it's totaled
Detective called today and the da is not charging the people arrested in the car because of a lack of evidence ?????
Then an hour later insurance calls with the numbers on value
insurances number for what the car is worth is around 5k. I looked for 6 months to find this car a white manual turbo version is ridiculously hard to find. And if you can they are 8-10 thousand all day long with the same miles. And not as many options.
fuck thieves.
insurance is a pain in the ass not looking for the battle to get the value of the car up to where it it needs to be. I would be happy with 7k value.
also anyone selling a Tacoma for 15-16k
i need a drink
That sucks. What kind of car?
Well that bites!! Sorry to hear this.
Not going to charge them huh, they must have thieving scum privilege or they're the DAs cousins.

This is when it helps to have a good agent. Reach out to your agent and see if they can help argue the value of the car on your behalf.
I have a friend who had his Civic Si stolen ELEVEN times. One time it was recovered in a person's garage. You guessed it, no charges. Guy said, "I don't know whose car that is. Never seen it before. "

That is crazy!!!
Police records of where car was recovered, mask, bat and not knowing where the bat came from comes to mind.

When I questioned the value my insurance company placed on my totaled camper I provided three for sale ads for the same camper and they gave me the averaged of them. It was much more than what they originally offered.

I would absolutely refuse the offer from the insurance company. Show them what the car is worth using your examples. Friend had his toy hauler totalled and the insurance company offered about 11 grand less than its worth. Fought it and got the extra 11 grand.
Always fight their original offer... but yes, F#(& thieves.
I had heard that subaru is now the #1 stolen car in colorado.
Between easy of theft, and the abundance of them here, I guess its a nasty combo.
Good luck with insurance brother.

It's not because they all have a wondrous and attractive odor emanating from within?
I'm kinda wondering what the point of having "laws" is if you're not even going to enforce them.

They caught them in an actual traffic stop and they aren't charging them? WTH?

What are the odds the thieves are...liberals? Just saying...probably related to Hillary or could be Obama's kids.
If he had kids, they'd drive a Subie. Just sayin'...
You should refuse the first offer. For Sale ads aren't really evidence of anything because people can ask whatever they want for a car. Maybe now that TrueCar is more popular, you can use that. Still submit local for sale ads, just don't count on them settling your case for you.

And yet a kid I knew took a car on a joyride from the dealership where he worked and was charged with Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft in Excess of $20,000.
Class III Felony.

When you have nothing to take, why would they bother? On the other hand...
Just like those who work vs. suck the .gov teet.
To put it another way. If I'm in sales there's no way I'm wasting my time trying to sell anything to someone who can't pay for it. Next thing will be some kind of commission paid on tickets written.

Now you know why I always vote against the incumbent DA.

Wow, slam fire full auto = prison? WTF.
No info if it was the guy who borrowed or some other asshat that rolled on him. That's part of the travesty. That another gun owner, possibly someone that either ran their own loads or some crap .223 junk with soft primers, turned on this guy.
“By this time, the weapon had been in the hands of the ATF for four
months. What caused the functional change in the weapon to fire as it had not done
before is unknown, although the ATF agent did acknowledge that the change in the
outcome from the October test resulted from a change to ‘softer primer’
ammunition,” the appellate documents said.

no kidding. Maybe they have so many cases involving pot/drug-violations (despite the legality? You know, where people are doing things that go beyond the new laws?) that they don't have time/space to take on low-level crimes like these? I know that in some big cities, the case overload is beyond comprehension, like 30,000 cases per year, but only 50 judges or something. If the perps don't make an easy, immediate plea, the DA allows their bluff and lets them go.

Yea fuck that. Some cops really do suck, don't get me wrong I have dealt with some that are REAL men and act accordingly. Others not so much. I had about 1200$ worth of Alpine in the trunk of my Impala, went out of town, left the car in the driveway (nice neighborhood) come back to wires hanging out of my trunk. Had to be someone who knew me, called cops gave them all serial number, receipts and so on (meticulous records kept). Found out they didnt even run a check at the local pawn shops. Had to do it for them.

Sorry to hear about your situation, but did you consider that the police may have bigger things to worry about than the theft of some guy's car audio? That exact scenario probably happens 50 times a day in Denver, meanwhile, they have murderers and rapists to catch.

Its somebody had there doorbell ring and there was no one at the door can you come check it out? a kid kicked a sprinkler head can you come check it out? Then the other 85% they are trying to hand out chicken shit traffic tickets. yes there are Drug units and Detectives. Hasn't been a murder in my town since I dont know how long.

I know its different in other cities. Was in Aurora before, that scanner was interesting to listen to"we have a body in a dryer at the laundromat" "some body walked into walgreens and sprayed with a mac" but not here. Mostly drugs but they have cops specifically for that. The regular beat cops and the ones I'm talking about. I'm not generalizing either, just speaking my experience of 25 years living around here.

Boulder County Sheriffs on the other hand are very professional, reasonable people as far as my experiences have been. Longmont PD not quite the same. I have meet some very good police, have also dealt with the slobish hacks. I'm sure its no different anywhere except probably a lot worse.
I have respect for them, its a thankless job, the ones who do it right my hats off but I am not okay with being treated like a money sponge the city can wring out anytime it feels like it because of some trumped up traffic ticket written to meet a quota.

It's good that got called the police so that they can track crime data and see if they have specific problem areas to address; other than that, I'm not sure what you expected to happen.
