That's certainly a breath of fresh air. I'm sure the media won't give this story even one minute of airtime.

Nice work unnamed Hero

You shut your hole. Fall in line citizen! That BS should not be publicized. We work hard to make sure that stuff doesn't hit the 9 o'clock news. {/sarcasm}

Nobody with a gun ever stops a mass shooting because if someone with a gun stops a mass shooting there is no mass shooting and thus nobody with a gun ever stops a mass shooting.

Technically (according to the libs and MSM), a mass shooting event is one with 3 or more injured by gun fire, so he did halt a mass shooting.

This thread isn't getting quite the traffic I expected one like this would...

The shooter had "no legal authorization" to carry. Logic dictates, therefore, he didn't have a gun and we need more gun control....with apologies to Kafka [Sarcasm2]

I'm under the impression that this type of deal happens rather frequently without gaining any (non-local) MSM attention, and this one will be no different...just a blip on the radar.

Also, this happened in a state where CCW is legal in bars. This is not the case in a majority of locations, and even here the general consensus seems to be "never carry a firearm while drinking, blah, blah..." (which I think is total bullshit...If your impulse control/judgment is that bad that you can't be trusted to carry while drinking, then you probably shouldn't have a CCW in the first place)....So back on topic, were this to occur in most locales, odds are you would still be charged, lose your CCW, etc, making it only worth acting if you or your immediate party come into the line of fire...

Remember, in this day and age no good deed goes unpunished...

I'm going to politely disagree with you.

Most of you who have met me in person would probably agree that I am pretty laid back, level headed, and easy going.

Add some alcohol to the equation and I become irritable, irrational, and actually just a bit mean.

Does that mean I shouldn't have a permit to carry?

I don't think so.

Just means I shouldn't carry if I'm going to be drinking.

My point was just that I think a blanket restriction on or condemnation of carring a firearm while drinking is a bit ridiculous.

I've had various friends over the years that would sometimes be an ass and even start the occasional (or not so occasional) brawl when drinking (there was a time where I fell into that category as well), but I was never worried that things would escalate beyond reason (most folks in question typically had various firearms on their person or vehicle) because I had confidence in thier ability to draw a line - in other words, just because you decide to punch someone in the face and they choose to return the favor doesnt mean that either individual (if well adjusted) will go for a sidearm...

That's where I believe the judgement comes into play, in that if you aren't comfortable in keeping that line intact regardless of condition, then as a responsible person you're making a conscious choice to avoid placing youself into that situation amd you just don't carry while drinking... I know that for myself, my problem-avoidance intent has gone way up since I started carrying in public, and even when drinking and someone pisses me off (still very likely to happen), my reactions are tempered and there would be no thought of drawing down for anything less than a true self defense situation (e.g. not going to shoot someone for grabbing my girl's ass in a bar, though I may be tempted to loosen up some teeth)...

Sorry. I thought you meant that people who got a little stupid when drinking shouldn't have a permit. Lol.

No worries, I probably should have clarified that thought a bit more originally :)

Lol.

Can we deny constitutional rights to minorities and women while we're at it?

Alcohol does kill 88,000 people per year, according to CDC.
