Colorado: Senate Committee to Hear Magazine Limit
Repeal Legislation Next Week

On Tuesday, January 31, the
Senate State, Veterans, & Military Affairs Committee is scheduled to hear
Senate Bill 7, legislation that seeks to repeal the misguided 2013 law that
limited the amount of ammunition a firearm magazine can hold.SB 7 would remove this restriction
so that law-abiding Coloradans are not limited in their ability to protect
themselves and their loved ones.

Please click the link below our signature line, to go to the directory for our
state representatives and contact your state Senator and state Representative,
and politely urge them to support Senate Bill 7 when it comes up for a vote.Contact your state Senator and state Representative, and politely urge

So what are the stats for gun crimes since this law started? Do they even have anything to point at to show this thing is helping.

I suppose their best ammo is to say that there have been no theater shootings by guys who bought crappy high cap mags that malfunctioned forcing them to resort to a shotgun. At least there is that.

Planned Parenthood murderer in Springs used high (standard) caps brought into the state after the law was passed.

I don't recall seeing a desire to discuss that in local media.

I prefer to call him the Black Friday shooter since he apparently shot in the direction of the VA clinic before he holed up at Planned Parenthood ...

Thank you for reaching out to me about the proposed repeal of the magazine limit. While I understand and appreciate your concerns, I stand by the 2013 law and do not support Senate Bill 7.

My concern is that it was far too easy for James Holmes and others like him to acquire high-capacity magazines and large quantities of ammunition. I know the magazine limit can’t prevent every act of violence by a deranged individual, but I believe it can reduce the probability that future acts of violence could be as calamitous as Aurora or Newtown.

I understand that you may be unhappy with this response, but I hope you appreciate my giving you a straight answer. Please continue to contact me about the issues that matter to you most.

There's absolutely no way a jackass with criminal intent to kill people would ever break the law by buying full capacity magazines in Wyoming....cuz it would be illegal.

So precisely when do these politicians get their brains sucked out of their skulls?

Without R majorities in both houses and an R governor . . . the only way this gets repealed is to make it part of something else the dems want, which probably won't be very palatable. Stupid freaking law--never should have passed and Hick should have vetoed it.

This ban will stop nothing and has stopped nothing. If you allow any and all people that wish to carry, too carry, then less of this will go on. It looks like the people responding to this thread understand this. Gun free zones should be posted not as a gun free zone but as a" KILLING FIELD " If you wish to quote studies, and I don't, because it is way to easy to skew the wording of a study just look at the national crime numbers and it is easy to see that almost every time this happens it is in a GUN FREE ZONE were I should not carry a defensible fire arm or a city that has anti gun laws enacted. I carry constantly if you put up a sign that asks me not to use your store that's cool with me you don't need my money. Make your voice heard contact you representative. You can do this by phone, email or regular mail. I don't care how it happens I think national carry needs to be the norm. It is a one minute google search to find how to contact anyone that is voted into office.

I lost all faith in the leadership of our state while watching that debacle... These are the most ill informed, ignorant moonbats I have ever seen, I'm looking at you Rhonda Rapsheet. They dont even care that the law isnt enforced and is not enforceable. Hell, one of the idiots that pushed this through thought magazines were only good once, and once the high (standard) cap mags were "used up" people wouldnt be able to get more. It was a fucking circus... They didnt give a shit what the people in the state wanted, they didnt listen to the thousands that showed up to argue these proposed laws. All they were concered about was pushing their agenda, because "they had to do something."

Still makes me sick that these clowns are in charge of our once great state.

Not true, it has stopped what it was designed to stop and that is law abiding gun owners enjoying their rights. That is ALL it was designed to do. It was nothing more than counting coup in the culture wars.

Democrats simply do not care about the lives of innocent people, they are hateful, evil POSs that do everything based on hate. They hate us and they were able to spit in our eye and then go to their dinner parties and laugh at how they spit in the eye of "those goddamn Republican bastards".

it seems to me that there should be a streamlined process for bringing criminal charges and forcing a trial by jury for politicians that behave this way and demonstrably violate law/constitution/ethics mandates/etc....

Recall elections just seem to be completely pointless and hold almost no punative impact or (overall) disincentive effect whatsovever, and ejection from office can just be tied directly to the criminal conviction...

I can't have them mailed to my house. I can't legally purchase them in or out of state (its just that for the time being, nobody is actually enforcing the law, not that its not illegal).

Yes there are plenty of ways to easily flout the law, but the fact that the law is there has prevented SOME law abiding gun owners from enjoying their rights.

And again, that's all its there for (and some day the popo is going to get pressured into enforcing the law by the Demonrats ... on that day there will be a few dealers and probably some citizens screwed out of all their rights when the hammer comes down).

Cant this be repealed via some sort of citizens initiated ballot measure, constitutional amendment, or veto referendum? I've never actually researched citizen initiated ballot measures, or participated in government activities (outside of voting and occasionally showing up to my city planning meetings to complain about issues I was concerned with) but the pot heads seemed to get legalized marijuana on the ballot for the last 15 years until they finally got enough people to vote for it. I'm assuming the people who support our second amendment rights in this state could be equally organized. I would be willing to volunteer time to get petitions signed, just say'n. I originally thought that is what RMGO was going to do, organize some sort of recall effort, however they just flooded my e-mail begging for more $.

Cheers,
Tim

I would write to my elected senator, except she was one of the two "No" votes for it to get moved to committee. For the time being I live in Looney Liberal land... that will hopefully change very soon. I am happy it's being introduced, but even if it makes it out of the State, Veteran's and Military Affairs Committee (which it should seeing as how that's a 5-2 republican majority committee), and passed the Senate, and House, it'll never get signed by Chickenpooper. Good for them for introducing it, but at this point it's destined to die.

He said at the time he didn't read it, just signed it on the advice of an aide - quite disingenuous of him. Now Dick-in-pooper is term-limited so will go ahead and veto it if it comes to his desk, to win points with the Bloombergs and set his stage for a national office run.

I don't see the dems promoting him to be a national candidate - lacks the far, far left bonafides. The big money and dem elitists are eliminating everyone who isn't idealogically pure in their eyes - like the guy running for DNC chair who inconveniently pointed out this week that islam is "anti gay" (it is). Hickenlooper is at best a political opportunist rather than a true believer. Also his appearance and speaking are not "eyes or ears friendly".
