View Full Version : Help Identifying a Part

I'm looking to ID the part in the picture below, or what it might be called to find something similar. I'm looking for the black and transparent mounting picture in the cover. For reference, the size is approx 5"x9" and would be used for a similar panel mount. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!

It's a stereo. What do I win?
Guessing it's plastic? Is the black portion paint or some sort of gasket? It'd probably help if you told us what exactly we're looking at.

It's a game prop for paintball/lasertag/airsoft. I'm specifically looking for the black/clear pannel that is mounted into the white, through which the two buttons are mounted.

Looks like just a piece of Plexiglas?

"Alternative" Clock...
Clearly it's a clock

Very well may be - the part in the picture is not in my possession so it's all I have to go off of. Graves' suggestion of a gasket may be accurate. I thought it might be a single piece of Lexan with a painted border creating the window, or a tablet mount but I couldn't find anything searching those terms.
Looks like acrylic or lexan, with the back painted black.

Who made the clock? Once you know who made it, you know where to start looking for replacement parts.
No no...it's a snow cone maker.

HVAC unit to something?
Likely custom made.
Get a piece of Lexan from HD or Lowes. If you're looking for precision, find someone with a small cnc setup (cabinet maker - perhaps member TimK can help?) to cut it and drill it for you. Mask and paint.
I have some plexiglass or lean laying around if you want to try to make it
It's a Buttfer!
Fine. I'll play along.
What's a buttfer?
Fine. I'll play along.
What's a buttfer?
Probably similar to a dickfer.

Maybe for you, but for me a buttfer and a dickfer serve two totally different purposes. Lol.

I've got 2 things I need help identifying.
The first is a Craftsman tool my father in law had but I have no idea what it is or what it's supposed to be used for. It's about 4" long.

The second is something (tool?) I found in the back of my Durango I got for my son a few years ago. I believe it's a tool as well, but for what? (Tape measure in pic to give an idea of size)

Will that was quick. Nut cracker is new to me, but seems useful.
The Craftsman Nut Splitter is there for you last resort when the nut just refuses all other forms of persuasion.
This nut splitter is a small and compact tool that splits nuts from 5/16 to 7/8 in. across flats. A hardened steel cutter, this is a hand tool only. Not to be used with power tools.
This sounds like a challenge.

Thanks brother.
OK, this is getting weird.
Someone is prank or drunk merging threads?
Or the forum software is drunk and merging same thread titles automagically? One would expect these things to have a unique record key, no?

No merge in this thread.
I beg to differ.
Ginsue just piggy backed and posted directly in this thread.
Oh lord, didn't even notice. I really am losing it.
In my defense, had two migraine episodes yesterday and kind of loopy.

Nut splitter? Sounds painful.
I've been carrying a nut splitter around for a few years now.
