I was born and raised in CO. I am a lifelong shooter and have recently taken an active interest in building ARs. I plan to start with an AR-15 in .223 and see where it goes from there. I joined the forum to learn more before I take the deep dive.

Just get a 556 barrel and shoot both 556 and 223, welcome to the fun!

Also make sure it is 16" barrel, unless you are going the pistol/SBR route. Welcome to the madhouse!

Thanks, everyone. I'm currently looking at the ultimate upper from LaRue, which is 223 Wylde. If I'm not mistaken, that will shoot both standard .223 and 5.56 Nato, correct?

Yup, you’re correct. I usually grab a cup at The Speed Trap during my mc rides.

I hear the lake effect snow is pretty terrible out there.

Ha! We do tend to get dumped on when it snows, but I'm guessing that has more to do with the palmer ridge than our little pond.
