Not sure why I am drawn to Maple wood stocks vs the typical darker wood stocks but I really want this....... Now to stop myself from buying it in .264 Win Mag and get it in 7mm Rem Mag

I agree! When I was younger a girl friend's dad had a .270 Weatherby with a light stock that was his favorite hunting rifle. He let me shoot a couple of rounds through it when I went with him to the range prior to hunting season-ouch lol! One of the most beautiful rifles I've ever seen.

I like it.

If I hadn't sworn off of wood/blued/polished firearms, I would happily own something like that.

I agree the light woods look nice. I just can’t justify having a pretty rifle. I’d be afraid to ding it.

One of my many regrets is selling an un-issued Enfield No4 Mk2 with blonde furniture.

Love that Winchester with the maple. You're not alone in its appeal.

During WWII, the Swiss had a shortage of walnut for manufacturing K31 rifles so they made some stocked in beech which sometimes was attractive. I have a sporterized Swedish Mauser that is stocked in a maple that my father originally made from a blank.

Light-colored wood reminds me of my childhood home; we had tongue-in-groove paneling. There's something nostalgic about the light color and the markings of the grain.

Beautiful rifle. I've always been a fan of highly figured wood whether it's light or dark. I guess I take after my Dad, his friends nick named him " The Termite ". He'd gobble up any rifle that had pretty wood.:)

They pop up from time to time on CDNN. Very tempting!

Love the light colored wood stocks too. My first rifle was a Winchester (.243Win) with a light colored Black Walnut stock. It is now my 14 year olds, but I still really like it. Maple and Black Walnut are two of my favorites.

Seems to me that maple rifles should be picture with flapjacks and some eggs.

With that nice fiddleback figure it is a very good looking rifle. I miss out of a lot of these because i shoot left handed. The more pictures the better in this thread.

This is a Remington 552 Speedmaster that I bought from a pawn shop and restored. I had two of them and this one had the blonde stocks. It came out pretty good I think.

That's really a beauty! I'm partial to Winchesters and that's a fine one. The only light colored stock I have is on an Anschutz target rifle. A lot of the Turkish M1 Garands that were returned through the CMP were light birch or ash. Most were plain straight grain but a few would make fine restorations. I'm refinishing an old Mossberg shotgun stock that may be birch. I'm thinking of going with a light cherry satin finish.

When my Grandpa passed my father gave me his rifle. Never shot it and don’t know much about it other then the blonde stock. Apparently my grandfather had the same interest in the light colored stocks. I heard so much about this rifle growing up. How powerful it was and it had a blonde stock!! Lol He bought it in 1972 in Germany.
