My parents went to a conference in Orlando a few weeks ago. In the same convention center was a MLP convention. My parents had never heard of bronies. The comments my dad had regarding them were like something out of a King of the Hill script, with a mix of renderings from characters Hank to Boomhauer to Dale Gribble.

Was explained to me that some want the nostalgia of innocent times (80s) and sexualize/fetish because of their attraction to femininity from that time vs. the options today. Because they are cartoons it is "safe."
I don't get it.

That's how it was explained to me.
Those girls don't exist now--that's the problem. In fiction, young men get Pollyannas who don't need/want men. In real life they get #BodyPositive feminists who use their vaginas for self-validation. The eligible, attractive women are on Tinder and only want 6'2" tall millionaires until they hit 35 and have no options, then maybe a guy gets to carry her baggage until the no-fault divorce.
Libs really have wrecked the culture.

But I'm not the only one to make these observations. I know a couple decent hard working younger guys who have zero interest in women for these reasons. They could easily support a wife/kids and make a real woman very happy.

That's very true too! But note the effort has turned/lead young women. There is no movement to lead young men. The moment something appears it is attacked and broken down. It was women who initiated this cultural change and made the fathers optional.
This is why the Boy Scouts had to be inclusive but not the Girl Scouts.
And worth pointing out there are, of course, exceptions in both genders.
ETA: Missing on both sides is the fact that we are all responsible for our own reality. There is no individual responsibility. The "incel" blames women from mom's basement and the feminist blames everything on men.

I just learned about MGTOW. It is sad what we are doing to ourselves. It is a truly rare individual who can exist without other people. At least for me, I am a better man because my wife is my helper. Could I get along without her? Sure, and she would be fine without me, but together our lives are better. Our joys are greater and our burdens are easier. I consider myself blessed.
I pray that everyone can find someone who makes living better.

Incel is not a choice and generally mocked for a lack of social skills/ability to attract women. And in the context of what women have become. Incels don't necessarily want a relationship, just sex. They rant about "Chads" who have sex with as many attracting women as possible. This what everything has been reduced to; sex.
I've been married for 10 years. And before that, dated before any of this BS. Dating to me was the process of finding a wife.
The entire culture has been destroyed to the extent that marriage/partnership isn't a goal. Modern humans have 5-10 between the time they are established in life/stable (25) and the time they are no longer able to successfully have children (35) to find someone they can live with. All that time is wasted on the above BS.
