Just an FYI but the weather in Wyoming is so much nicer than it is around here. At least in the summer.

I’ve been blessed (cursed?) with spending a little time up there the past couple of weeks. Pretty sure when I woke up this morning it was under fifty degrees. I don’t think it got above 74 degrees before I left around two. Got home and decided to cut my tiny front lawn. Took maybe twenty minutes and it made me hot and sweaty.

Might have to volunteer for more trips to Wyoming during the summer months.

Where in Wyoming?
I started in the oil patch near Baggs in the 60's and it was hot, dusty, and windy.
I loved the weekly trips to Craig to do laundry.

We would move to Cheyenne if it wasn't so dam windy all the time.

I went to HS in Casper. It was frequently in the upper 90s in the summer. Then it would be winter. Most miserable place in the world in the winter. Between the bitter, bitter cold and the non-stop hurricane winds it was unbearable. I'd love to live in WY...but there's no way I could tolerate the miserable weather.

Mostly been in Douglas (which is a shit hole and I highly wouldn't recommend anyone moving there) and Laramie.

It hasn't exactly been murder down here for the last 2 weeks. Coincidence?

This is funny. I'm in Douglas/Casper right now. It was hot late this afternoon.

Headed for the Baggs area that was mentioned in a few weeks.

I like lots of parts of WY. Good thing considering how often I am up here.

I took the family to Wyoming once and they enjoyed it as well. For as often as I've been there, I've never actually stayed there. I've driven through once, and worked day trips in Cheyenne a few times. I've actually spent more time in Nebraska and Kansas City now that I think about it.

I was looking at land up there recently. My family is selling our family cabin in Tabernash, so my wife and I were thinking about getting our own land somewhere. Cheyenne is about the same drive time as Tabernash.

Summer inthe Powell/ Cody area is nice... I'd go back if the wife agreed to it, but she won't

Yep, Cody is my favorite part of WY. Unfortunately between the relatively high cost of real estate and the lack of jobs in the area it's tough for a working person to be there.

I remember Summers in Laramie being blistering hot. Sure, it cooled down at night (thanks to 7200' elevation) but those hot days were tough in an apartment with no AC.

Cody is beautiful, as is Yellowstone and Teton Parks (before the tourists)
My first job in the oil patch was working on a geophysical crew running jugs (geophysical listening devices) and a surveyor's rod.
Literally ran across Wyoming, North and South Dakota, and Montana.
It was a great experience for an 18 year old punk kid.

My wife is from Powell and she'd move back at the drop of a hat.

I would be back there except for local family and friends.

Here or there?

If I could get them all to move to Powell I would head there in a heartbeat.

It's always a mistake to take a limited sample and draw generalized conclusions from them. Temperatures in C Springs have been fairly moderate lately; if you used the past few weeks as an example, you'd swear nights were always cool and that while some days got to the high 80s or low 90s, they were quickly ameliorated with torrential rains. You'd also wonder how people survive with baseball-size hail coming down once a week.

I lived in the southwest part of the state in the late ‘70s.
Bridger Valley, Loved it. Close to the Uinta mountains and
Flaming Gorge.

No thanks. I lived in the Scottsbluff/Gering area (about an hour East of Wyoming) for 18 years of my life and I couldn't get away from there fast enough. Regular posts from those poor schmucks stuck there about hail, tornadoes, heat/humidity, cold/humidity & ice storms remind me regularly why I'm glad to be in Colorado. Every now and then I think about how inexpensive it would be to move back and then there's a Facebook update (usually weather related) that reminds me why I left. The weather alone is enough to keep me from moving back or to Wyoming as they're very similar although Wyoming is probably windier & colder in the winter. Couple that with the fact that every business that exists is going under and no new ones are moving in and you have a recipe for a farming community that offers nothing for those who don't farm. Great for stability when the stock market or real estate market tank but other than that.... meh. I don't mind visiting Wyoming or Nebraska but I sure wouldn't live there.

True.

My initial post wasn't necessarily based on a single sample though. I've been back and forth to Wyoming for work rather frequently over the last fourteen years. It just seems like no matter how hot it is here during the summer months it's always a bit cooler up there when I'm up there. Doesn't matter if we're talking Casper or Douglas or Laramie or Rawlins or Rock Springs.

The winters can be brutal and parts of the state just seem to be too darn windy just about all of the time but generally if I've been sweating my butt off working around here it seems whenever I go up there I'm a lot less sweaty until I get back.

Oh, and the general lack of traffic is refreshing also. It probably takes me longer to go up I-25 from Denver to Fort Collins than it does from Fort Collins to Casper.

During rush hour and inclement weather, I've absolutely gotten to Cheyenne from Thornton in the same time as it would take me to get from Thornton to the Tech Center. I always take work to the North of me before I will to the South.

We have quite a few folks that live on the north side of Denver that work at our facility in Cheyenne. They don't really want to live in Cheyenne, but their commute is much easier than attempting to get to the HQ in Douglas County south of the Tech Center.
