Why isn't this reported everywhere? Never mind, taxes are good for greenies

Well the stupid frogs had the opportunity to pick Le Pen over Macron so...
What would happen in any large US city if the price of gasoline shot up to $7 per gallon while the price of oil has been on the decline? No better indication that the government is taxing the life out of the economy.

They eat snails don't they? I love French cuisine. French fries. Crepes. Chateaubriand. Don't forget French kisses. This forum is such a joy!

Thought someone would throw the words “maids” or “ticklers” in that list.
The French riot about as frequently as the Broncos lose a football game, nothing to see here.

The government should release the news that the rioters are going on strike to shut things down.
I'm not really dialed into anything French. Maybe coffee related stuff. But I see this as encouraging. If a country that likes Jerry Lewis and cycling that much can protest more taxes, I'm optimistic. Or this is the beginning of something bigger. This is the first I heard of it, thanks for posting.
$7 per gallon is nuts. But that tax doesnt go to transportation, it goes to pipe dreams.

I've been killing it selling pipe dream catchers to French buyers on my Etsy account.
I remember Europe gas price was about 2.5x more than average US gas price around 2002.

It is paradise for tax lovers. Also perfect for worrying about next door EU countries F'ing up so that all EU countries has to bail them out.
Another way of taxation.
Moral hazard....

That is clever and funny as hell.
If you have a pipe dream catcher, I'm interested buying one, but only if it helps European citizens who are at risk.

I would normally wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment. But then I stop to think about who some voters in this country choose and reality takes a bit bite outta my ass.

A sliver of a silver lining is that, apparently, many Obama voters turned and voted for Trump. He won after all. And he lost way fewer House and Senate seats in the mid terms than the any POTUS in what, the last hundred years or so?
Trump isn't my saviour but it does show some hope that we are moving in the right direction? Maybe? Wishful thinking on my part, I know. (Sorry to derail)

Coming to America!
The way to get people out of their cars and onto public transportation, bikes, walking, or at least into electric vehicles.
Uh-huh, I read it on the internet, so it must be true?

Cheap suppressors with no paperwork and abundant nuclear power are at least two things they did right over there.
If you ever want to see a lefty go full REEEEEE, drop those nuggets into a conversation with them next time they're extolling the virtues of the Europeans.

If you hunt there without a suppressor, you are considered a rude bastard. Here you have to get permission from the "Government". I like the statement below! (except the nuclear part)

Europe also gave us "roundabouts". I'd nuke 'em just for that if I could.

Roundabouts do tend to reduce and avoid heading collisions, the problem we see here is that people tend to not know to to drive in one.
I feel like Roundabouts are like communism in that they work great when people know how to use them. Except I like roundabouts and communism will never work.

Oh probably the same reaction as when CO magazine capacity was limited to 15 rounds. Nothing.
If anyone thinks that recalling a couple of communists was something that carried some weight I'll direct them to the results of the latest elections where an even worse group of communists was elected. We even have a thread on what we think the communists are going to do now that they hold the CO congress and governors seat.

I love roundabouts.
Modern roundabouts were first standardized in the UK in 1966 and were found to be a significant improvement over previous traffic circle and rotaries. Since then they have spread and modern roundabouts are commonplace throughout the world. Half of the world's roundabouts are in France (more than 30,000 as of 2008), although the United Kingdom has more as a proportion of the road than any other country.
I dislike roundabouts, but I learned to drive before 1966
[blaster]
Europe likes driving in circles. It makes you feel like you're getting somewhere, even when you aren't.
We 'Mericans drive in straight lines. Our cars go fast in straight lines...or turn only left on Sunday.
Socialism is in for a rude awakening. Everywhere.
Word in certain circles is that the protests have little or nothing to do with gas prices, that's just the media's chosen narrative.

has the media ever been truthful about anything.
Look at the media today. Almost every story manages to throw Trump in to the narrative, negatively of course.
Kim Kardashian undergoes hipposuction.
Donald Trump was responsible for getting her convicted felon relative a pardon. Was that a quid pro quid for Kaynes endorsement, we here at mudslingersnn believe so.
At this point I have exactly zero confidence that the press is capable of reporting anything in a way that meaningfully resembles reality.
At this point I have exactly zero confidence that the press is capable of reporting anything in a way that meaningfully resembles reality.
It depends on the topic, if the topic is politics, economics, climate, foreign affairs, the press will lie at every turn to make the president look bad. The other topics we usually get straight reporting.
I think the press was accurate with regards to the Alaskan earthquake though, don't know if they've blamed on global warming yet.
In cases like natural disasters, sure, they get the broad strokes right, though they're often wildly wrong in the first hours/days of such an event.
That said, I had a bit of an epiphany years ago when I realized that every time the press reported on a topic I was even somewhat knowledgeable in, they invariably either got it wrong, or delivered information at such a high level that it wasn't particularly useful.

Agreed.
