View Full Version : Gun Shop Inventory Reports
What's the current status of gun, magazine, and component inventories around town? I'm amazed there was so much available stock to cause a 13k backlog at CBI...

Speaking for Gunsport in Boulder, I have never seen their semi-auto handgun cases so empty before (80% gone), and the DA revolvers are 50% gone. Usually what is left are higher end 1911s, .40 cal pistols, or 6" magnum revolvers. Tactical or basic riot shotguns are completely gone.

Did you go into the stores or did you look online? Many do not have what they list online actually in stock, it?s from their distributors.
I have been trying to stay away from most all stores with the craziness going on. And I been so busy with work, hard to get out during the day.

I know alot of Springs gun stores have been selling non-stop. Dragon Mans seems to have good inventory, and he's been giving away TP with each purchase. A long time ago he used to offer a free ski mask with every shotgun purchase, but with the warm weather around the corner I think the TP is a better gimmick.

Ark Tactical is getting restocked quickly. As of this morning they had a full wall of long guns and many full cases of handguns. Mags and ammo are being restocked daily. They have pallets full of inventory arriving daily.
I'll echo that, ARK was pretty much stocked back up.
Whistling Pines East & West in Colorado Springs have OK stock.
I think the places like Cabelas and Bass Pro got hit so hard, so fast because non-gunnies knew they have guns from seeing them while picking up their BBQ grill in the past.
Non-gunnies didn't know about real gun shops because they'd never lower themselves to go in such a place.
But now their google-fu is kicking in.

Stop, Drop & Shop (SDS) in Colorado Springs has firearms and ammo (also some bulk ammo) in stock.
They are limiting customer purchases to 2 boxes of each caliber.
Here is a link to their USED firearms inventory.
https://www.sdsguns.com/pages/used-guns
They get shipments all the time to restock new gun inventory.
They have suspended person to person xfers due to storage space concerns.

I am so glad SDS is in Springs. Its too far so it saves me a lot of money. Those guys are amazing. If they were closer, i might "need" the Beretta o/u and maybe another 700 in .30-06.

no issues down here, so far. Davidsons & ruger are 10 minutes from most shops in the areas. They're trying to keep the locals stocked.
No 9/40/45/223 ammo at cabelas thornton today.
Sportsmans has many 9/40/45/223. Mostly expensive ammo, but some bulk target ammo.
1 box per person per rifle/pistol ammo. I went with my kid and they made it 2 box okay for 9mm.
I still did not purchase the 225gr Nosler 338 lapua mag.

I think the crush at the local shops is tapering off now.
I bet this week all the restock that was ordered gets delivered!
Good time to head over and see what is new on the shelf!
Richard
BTW kinda late, but photos of Sportmans' ammo stock.

I wonder if dealers are still trying to get rid of the overstock they bought in 2016 thinking Hillary was going to get elected?
How's the .22 LR situation around town?
Anyone seen 9x18 Makarov?
I think those are in stock at least north area. Saw it at many Sportmans' and Cabelas north.
How's the .22 LR situation around town?
Many. Walmart, cabelas, sportsmans, and other big stores have many types of 22lr.
I was at Green Mountain Guns yesterday. Moderately busy, about half the consignment handguns were gone. About three quarters of ARs gone, too, with just a few examples of what looked like budget carbines left. The bolt actions and shotguns looked normal. Ammo shelves mostly empty and a two box limit. Overall, pretty good inventory compared to the last panic.
Also, they have two of the new Pythons on display, which was really interesting to see. The standard finish on these guns is very, very nice. If they ever dip below a thousand, I'll probably snag one.
I was at Green Mountain yesterday, and the consignment hand guns are just about wiped out. Only a few ARs remain from what used to be a well-stocked display. Ammo shelves are mostly bare, with a 1 box limit on 9mm purchases. Lots and lots of bolt action consignment rifles remain, and the new S&W revolvers are ALL still there. A few of the more expensive new Glocks are still available. I was surprised to see that much of the cleaning brushes and supplies are gone - so, based on that, I'd say many first time buyers showed up in the past few days.

Scheels was out of any popular caliber ammo. Only thing they had lots of was 12ga bird shot. Reloading supplys were pretty well stocked except for primers. Almost bought a savage precision 22 but the cbi was a day out, maybe next time.

Walls are full. Ammo is well stocked. No limit on any ammo except 9mm FMJ (limit 200rnds or 1,000rnds with gun purchase). The guys there have been working overtime for months to make sure they stay well stocked after the initial covid run.
What's the situation with the 500+ packs of .22? Has anyone noticed a shortage at the shops or Walmart?

Rimfire ammo seems to be in stock everywhere. No centerfire to be found...except .45Gap.

The other caliber I seem to find when there's a drought is .41 Magnum. [Coffee]

The 2 boxes of .45 GAP I saw could very possibly be from the very first shipment of .45 GAP ever sent out to retailers. It's marked $9.89 box. It's in the local ranch supply store.

Lotta background checks and a lotta guns being bought. And doesn't even take into account multiple purchases or states where background checks aren't required with a CCW, or states where private sales without checks are still allowed.
