Curious... how many of you work from home?

I was a commercial banker until last year when the banks were Obamized. Now I work few hours here and there at home, mostly brokering deals within my network. The income has not changed much, thank God! However, after working my butt off for the last decade, I forgot how to enjoy life! The phrase Dont work hard, work smart is finally understood.

Side effect? I go through cases of ammo faster than ever! More trips to the ranges! [Beer]

+1. I'd go crazy trying to fit back into the corporate structure. And yes, it does help get the ammo supply down.

...you work from home?

I've been mobile/transient since ~early 99', doesn't matter where I'm at on the planet but I do spend 2-4 days a week in a local office now by design to exploit select resources.

The down-side, I'm always working, literally, that side of my personality wins out but I wouldn't trade the flexibility for anything. I'm sittin' near timberline now and more productive than ever (except I'm burnin' time on this forum at the moment [Twist])

I've been working from home for almost 5 years now. For most of that time I supervised a geographically dispersed team doing ID administration. Currently at the same company I project manage IT security projects.

Some good things is days like today, no need to drive anywhere. Since I don't smoke, I do things like loads of laundry and call those "breaks". I also really enjoy being able to do a decent cooked lunch. Take 2 minutes put something in the oven, when done mark myself as on lunch.

Bad things is there have been days when I notice I haven't left my office for 12 hours. When you don't have people dropping by you can lose track of time. Another thing is so often because I work from home there is an expectation that I'm available for calls at all hours of the day.

With the changes big blue has been doing I suspect in the next year or two at most I'll be back to driving into Boulder.

I work from home... it would take doubling my salary to get me back in an office.

I've worked from home for the same company (in two different incarnations) for the past ten years now. I started off working in the evenings in addition to my regular job but when I got married and moved to this country I started doing it 'full time' (two hours a night and the odd hour or two in the day).

It's a British company so I get paid in Sterling which was great last year when the exchange rate was massively in my favour, especially taking into consideration the cost of living over here.

It also fits our lifestyle perfectly, as I can work as much or little as I want and take a few weeks off at a moment's notice. I don't think I could go back to a regular job after ten years of working in pajamas whilst watching the X-Files on dvd and playing Football Manager on the desktop :D

I just quit working for the man... 8 more working days and I'm off to work for another man... but it will be much better at the new gig...

Everyone that works from home usually wouldn't have it any other way... I'd go stir crazy myself, too many temptations of not working being at home...

My wife is a financial analyst with Hewlitt Packard. She has worked from home for the last six years. She loves it!

As for me, I don't think I could stand to be stuck at home all day. I love being on a job site.

Not me fellas. I have to report for duty every day from 7:30 to 4. It's hard to build huge diesel engines in your home office.

I run my little gig from home. I like it. Doesn't pay worth a damn a lot of the time but I don't need much...mortgage, gas for the Harley and a little ammo.

Hmm. 7:30 - 4 sounds like the duty hours for the desk-job folks in the AF. Of course, SF work 12 hour shift more often than not. Good thing you'll be a Reservist; eh?!

Yes, very nice bikes.

While I could never afford one of those, I really miss riding.
