so a friend was asking about these... and what is the actual purpose?
Is it more for Identification when asked or to look silly and identify yourself as carrying while in public... ?? I guess some states require this? But haven't been able to verify that...

I don't think anyone requires it.
This came up a few years ago on another site. Getting a badge like this is just a sure fire way to look like a douche bag and flirt with impersonating an officer.
Some people will say that if you clip this on your belt next to your gun, if anyone ever sees your gun, they're likely to see the badge and think you're a cop. Sounds like impersonating to me. It also opens you up to having people come to you for help with things you have no business in.
I say no way in hell should anyone wear one of those. That is my personal opinion on the issue.
Just a mall ninja accessory.
... and what is the actual purpose?
Umm....to look like a dork
M2MG
Do you even have to prove that you have a CCW to order one?

Bling for mall ninjas.
wearing a "Concealed Carry" badge defeats the purpose of CONCEALED!!!!

Exactly!
Some people will try to tell you that if someone sees your piece, then you can just flash your "badge" and everything will be groovy, but you could just as easily say "I'm a douche" and the end result would be the same. [ROFL1]
Fail on so many levels.
Why would you want to advertise that you are carrying? Giving away the advantage.
Why get in trouble for "impersonating a police officer"? Stupid...

LOL, I like to think of it as a "Criminal Charges Multiplier" just like that ad showing the guys having Glocks attached to the rails of their AR-15s. The ad says it is a "Force Multiplier." HAHA

Just a mall ninja accessory.
+1
Third time is a charm.
Doesn't mention anything about how you just made your Glock into an SBR as well. I guess that is what the "MILITARY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT ONLY" sign is for.
Multiple post syndrome. Wonder what happened....

From the site...
"UTA (Universal Tactical Attachment) is a user installed, tactical force multiplier: It enables a trooper armed with a long firearm (assault rifle, shotgun or SMG) and a Glock pistol to mount the pistol under the long firearm, thereby creating a unified, tactically enhanced, dual weapon system.
The long firearm should be fitted with a standard Picatinny rail and the slide cover plate of the pistol should be replaced. This minor modification will" render pistol, rifle and user inneffectual, while additionaly making user look like an utter douchebag.

figured there would be some opinions similar to my thoughts on that ccw badge thing...
now the glock on the rail is interesting... in a bad way.

I wonder if you can add another rail to the Glock and put you back up gun on it? then maybe a knife on the end of that, then ...... I could sell the crap out of them at Walmart then! I would even call it the "Mall Ninja Rail"
Not to mention that by that time, it would reach the floor and assist with standing/walking. You could market it to all those pudgy guys at gun shows who did super secret ops back in the day, but are too fat to get out of their chairs now.

Mono-pod attachment rail accessory for stealthy mall ninjaing...
Someone needs to get busy with the photoshop and give us our 9 tiered tactical monstrosity!
Oh yeah, I forgot about that market! Their famous phrase: "I didn't have to go through _______selection/training. I was part of a secret unit."

I think we might be infringing on someone else's patent...

This would be a more compact "tactical entry" version for the mall ninja

I concur 110%. Especially on the risking an impersonation charge.

i bought one of these when i was prolly 15 years old at the army-navy store for $5. yea, not so cool now.
The ONLY use I can see for this would be to wear while open carrying, but only if you have a CCW. For the average business owner who doesn't know whether open carry is allowed, having a badge that accurately references your 'license to carry' might well make them comfortable with it. No way is this a police impersonation problem in and of itself, as it very clearly says what it is. The idea that because cops usually wear badges that no one else can wear a badge without committing a crime is illogical and would never hold up. As long as the badge wording is accurate and does not imply you are a cop, there is no problem.
The badge shouldn't have an eagle, or any other figures, shapes, or symbols, that are very close to police badges.

+1.... but they shouldn't have the badges to begin with.[Tooth]
A badge in any form implies LE. Unless it is made of plastic and on a 5 yr old, it represents (or misrepresents) someone paid and authorized to wear one.
I'd bet this guy owns one....

[ROFL1]Lol probably

If this were true, LE would quickly shut down the operations that make these badges. They can't do that, because while misrepresentation is a crime (fraud), wearing a badge like this is not misrepresentation.
This is still a free country. If I want to make a badge that says "King of the World" I can do it. There is no law stopping me, and there is no way I will be successfully prosecuted just for wearing it, regardless of how many eagles or whatever are on it. Now if I falsely tell someone I am LE or pull someone over with flashing red/blue lights or if my badge says "Denver Police Department", that is a different story, then it is misrepresentation. I'm sure at some point, someone will pass a law preventing anyone other than LEs from wearing any badges, but until they do, anyone who wants to can buy and wear one freely.

Sure they can, but everyone knows that the whole point of wearing a fake badge next to your gun is so that people will think you are a cop and leave you alone.

Yup, flash a badge like that and you are impersonating a LEO, ding-dong, you go to jail.
Besides, why the he11 would need or want something like that, unless of course your ego needs it.
[LOL][LOL]
If you really feel like you need a badge, why not just pick up a security guard badge, they look real enough from a distance. I have to say, though, I've seen security guards (my brother was one) wear their badge next to their gun (my brother did) just because they wanted to LOOK like a cop and they look silly.

I second that. If you want to look like a deputy/officer, why not just do it right and get into the academy? (Hiring freezes are not an insurmountable wall.)
I think I had a "Super Junior G-Man" badge from when I was a kid, I can ask my dad if it's still around :).

I can actually see that if you were an armed security officer and you are going to/from work.
But just to hang out... naah.
I Don't need no stinking Badge.
"Are you a Policeman?"
"Nope"
"But you have a Gun..."
"It is legal to open carry a personal firearm within the state of Colorado without a permit, although it is restricted by certain municipalities."
"Really? I Didn't know that."
As long as you aren't carrying in the "Wrong Places", Don't tell people you are a cop or try to portray yourself as one you shouldn't get in any trouble.
I Seriously saw a guy Open Carry in a Blue Uniform (Pants and Long sleeve button shirt) with NO Patches, no designations at all, pant-legs tucked into his tacti-cool Black boots wandering through Aurora Gander Mountain once.
I almost pulled a Captain Clark on him but thought better of it and I haven't seen him since.[ROFL1]
Buy a nice holster with that $$$. Better deal IMHO<

I have my father's badge. I received it after he passed away. He received it when he retired from the department. The FIRE DEPARTMENT! He wasn't a policeman, but he had every right to wear that badge proudly. There are other positions in this world other than LE that utilize the wearing of badges; however, CCW is NOT one of them. IMHO
About 30 years ago, I was a reserve police officer. I wore a badge, but I only wore it while I was in uniform.
