There is a particular gun shop that frequents this site and another one that has an almost cult following.
It irritates me when those fuckers post in firearms for sale on their bullshit in their damn shop. Irritates the fuck out of me. I personally think that the for sale should be for private sales and if I wanted to go to agun shop I would go there and not cruise a board such as this to see what the hell they have.

As long as they are bound to the same rules as the rest of us are, I'm not too terribly concerned...I've seen forums where they have much more freedom than regular members, and the for sale boards end up flooded with their ads...

Or the guys on Gunbroker who have auctions, and tell you to call ahead first to make sure it is in stock...they are selling stuff they havent even received yet...

You really shouldn't let stupid shit bother you.

The dude is trying to make a buck, like everyone else in that forum.

Don't think you should visit then find a Non Gun site where gunshops are BANNED...

I like seeing what a local shop may have for a great deal.

I would be more irritated if I spent $50-100 more on a rifle because I wasnt able to frequent every shop around denver than seeing what they have by posting here.

Maybe a gun shop specific sticky would be beneficial to everyone.

Lighten up- it's not a big deal and doesn't seem to be a concern to most [Beer]

Yep, but then you have to wonder if it's fair to our "industry partners".

If it is an established business they should be in the Industry Partners section and they can post all the stuff they have for sale in their own forum.

the firearms for sale forum, IMO is where private sales take place.

In the end either way doesn't bother me to the extent of the OP since I can distinguish between a private sale and a dealer sale.

I agree that gun shops / dealers should either be restricted to the industry partners section or state clearly in their ads that they are a gun shop / dealer.

I'll agree with the majority here... lets encourage folks with a business to support the site, get an industry partner area and roll from there. Also I don't see a reason to restrict them from posting in the regular for sale area's so long as they clearly identify themselves as a business rather than a private party. Some posts in the past have been, a little muddled lets say.

As long as the seller discloses that he is an FFL I don't have any problem with it. The potential buyer can make his own choice whether or not to contact the seller. Just like those that want bills of sales etc, the potential buyer can choose to contact them or not.

Agreed that this is the best way. If I as a buyer would have to go through a background check to purchase, then its a commercial sale and goes in Industry Partners. But also, to be able to post in Industry Partners, they kind of need to be a partner on the site, either hosting events, giving discounts to members, or directly donating to keep the site running I'd think.

As others have said, as long as dealers ads are clearly marked as being dealers I see no problem with it.

The main reason I look at the classifieds is because I prefer most of my purchases be "off paper" cash and carry deals (but hey, if you're a dealer and you have a good deal on something I want I have no problem filling out a 4473 and passing an NICS check).

I'll side with private sales only. A board like this has expenses and the sponsors keep it going. A commercial enterprise could become a sponsor to sell.

Many other sites I visit don't allow any advertising unless you become a board sponsor, regardless of what you are selling.

Then there's the sites that are choked with ads.

I think there should be a benefit for this site. The retailers receive a benefit of the sale of their goods here. I think it would only be fitting if this site receive some type of benefit for assisting in their sale. They are making money off these deals, so the site (and / or site operators) should be in some way compensated.

No freeloaders!!! Give a portion of the sale to the site, or to the members via some discount or kickback. It is not easy to create a demand for your products and services. It is also not free of charge.

Want me to visit your site? Well then you pay someone to enhance you search results (= money). Want to create demand and brand awareness? Again this cost money!

LOL.. This site doesnt belong to any of you. Owner probably has addressed it already if it was an issue to him.

Your probably right. But this is a "Rant" is it not? I just want the people who put forth the effort to benefit from it. Not me personally, I already reap the benefits of this site.

As far as online auctions and the seller asking to call prior to placing a bid:

If it is a true "Brick and Mortar" firearms shop then I think that is not a bad thing. The dealer has his items for sale at his shop and subject to changing inventory.
What would you rather- Placing a quick call first or the piss off factor of bidding only to find out they sold it 2 days prior?

Now if it is some Dbag that has no inventory-screw em!

I too am all for private sales only. It sucks when I click on "New Posts" and 90% of them are for sale ads and about half of those seem to be dealers. This isn't Gun Broker.
