This week President Obama promised to "reduce drug use and the great damage it causes" with a new national policy that he said treats drug use more as a public health issue and focuses on prevention and treatment.

Great! So now instead of spending $1 trillion on the war on drugs, we can spend another trillion(that we don't have)on the hearts and flowers approach that won't f*cking work either.... [Bang][Bang][Bang][Rant1]

I love the how guberment always says it's gonna take time to see results but we need the money now. I know it's going to take time but an indefinite timetable is a flimsy way out in my book. We need to hold politicians to what they say and when they say it will be done, not some it may work at some point to be determined shit. If you haven't met your goal in the time you specified then you failed that's it. Securing the border and ports would help a lot more I imagine.

The government should spend the same amount of money trying to prevent drug use as it does trying to cure diabetes. So next to nothing.

Let the CIA run the drug war. After they put out a few tons of poisoned cocaine, heroin and meth and the users start dropping like flies, the demand will miraculously dry up.

I'm good with that!

Follows the concept of working smarter, not harder!

Unfortunately, the CIA is hesitant and in some circumstances, forbidden to operate on CONUS soil. However, I think it's a fantastic idea too... Two months and there would be a fraction amount of drugs and crime as there is now.

Murdering people who want to use drugs is a stupid idea.

Oh, I agree, tongue was planted firmly in cheek. But think about this, ever heard of ricin? Ever think about the havoc a terrorist organization could wreak on Western civilizations by dusting kilos of heroin and coke with ricin? Just a teaspoon per kilo (maybe less) would kill everyone that drug came in contact with. Easy to make from castor beans.

Sure, the people dying would be drug users and the terrorists own customer base (and probably a few of the people handling it), but if they want to kill a lot of Westerners.....and what's the main cash crop of Afghanistan? Mmm-hmm, opium poppies and heroin. They could also buy a shitload of coke in S. America, doctor it up and put it on the streets. Lots of dead infidels and panic worldwide.

It's a scary concept, and wouldn't be that hard for 'em to do.

My tongue was equally well planted deep in my cheek when I responded that it was a good idea. As hard-nosed as I like to come off, I really don't advocate the taking of a human life where it can be avoided. That is, unless someone intentionally harms my family - then GAME ON!

Quite possibly a good amount of overflow deaths of innocents who handle the currency that contacted the ricin.

Just sayin.
