I have narrowed it down to 3 rifles. They are all on sale and what I think is a good price.
1. Savage Edge with Camo Stock, Scope, and Matte Finish Barrel in 30-06$379
2. Remington 700 ADL Heavy Barrel Varmit with Camo Stock, Scope and Matte Finish Barrel in 308 $499
3. Remington 700 ADL with Camo Stock, Scope and Matte Finish Barrel in 30-06 $450
All are new in box. Which is a better deal? I am looking for a good all around, mulit purpose rifle. I am looking to hunt deer all the way up to Elk.

Remington 700's have a great history. [Beer]
Remington holds a value as well as being a great gun.

I just sold one of the Edge rifles in camo (for $365, BTW :) ) and it was a really nice gun. Hard to beat for the money.
Get the Rem .308.... great gun, lots of uses, etc.

Any of the 3 will serve you well. I prefer Savage as I think they put out a better product out of the box for typically a little better price. The AccuTrigger is either a love/hate issue but Savage does have an advantage with the floating bolthead. A Savage is also cheaper to accurize and if you are comfortable with it a lot of shooters switch calibers/barrels. With a Savage it is much easier than a Remington due to the barrel nut design and no machine work is required to swap barrels on a Savage.
You mentioned you are going to hunt with it. Do you want to lug around ANY extra weight? If not then toss the HB Remmy out of your choices.

All good choices as mentioned above but the Remington 700 in 308 is the "AR" of bolt guns. There are more modification parts for it than the other two on your list. Stocks, triggers, optic mounts, you name it somebody makes it. With that said, I would seriously consider a BDL over the ADL. It is nice to be able to drop the bottom from the magazine and unload as opposed to racking out the unused rounds.
Here is a photo of my 700BDL in 308:

I'd choose one of the two Remingtons for the reasons stated above. Lots of aftermarket goodies available, and it's upgradable to the limit of your budget.
I'm partial to the .308, but most of my shooting is long range competitions. The '06 should be good for another 100-150 fps with the same projectile, so that might be a factor for a hunter. For my type of shooting I dial for elevation, so I almost don't care about muzzle velocity.
Finally, if you haven't picked up the heavy barrel version yet, do so. That's what I shoot, and I wouldn't want to carry that sucker around in the mountains.
To sum, if this is for hunting, not tactical competitions or long range, I'd choose the Rem in '06.

.308 Rem 700 gets my vote.
Im with Tim. Remington in 30-06. Better selection of heavy bullets.
Dragging a heavy barrel 308 around the mountains would blow goat.

I was actually going to ask what the primary purpose was going to be.
if its going to be a paper-puncher, The heavier barrel wont be an issue.
If its a Zombie Killer and hes going to be stationary on a roof, Its preferred.
But yeah, if you are going to be packing that around chasing Bambi's mom... sucks to be you

3. Remington 700 ADL with Camo Stock, Scope and Matte Finish Barrel in 30-06 $450
Mine has served me well over the many years I have owned it...
Best buy:I would go with the Savage in 30-06.It's an out of the box rifle, that shoots small groups. For Elk,go with the 30-06 & check out Hornady's new faster propellant ammo, with no increased recoil. If you have a bigger wallet, I would suggest a SAKO , pronounced [ socko ] MODEL 85, in 30-06. [Beer]

I have a Savage (.300 Win Mag) and three 700's (.30-06 and two .308's). The Savage gets the nod for price, but it also won't be worth as much later, either. Honestly, I'd get the best I could afford. The Savage is a good rifle, I wouldn't say anything against it, but if I had to choose one it would be the Remington. Purely personal preference on my part. The Savage barrel system is only a real advantage if you plan on changing barrels. The bolts on my 700's are smoother than the Savage, and the Remington has a cleaner look (I think). There's plenty you can get for a Savage, but there isn't anything you can't get for a 700. You'll notice that you don't see custom rifle builders using Savages to build on, but they nearly all offer 700-based rifles. Just my .02![Coffee]

Rem. 700 in .308
I have a Savage model 10 tactical with a Burris XTR 3-12 scope that shoots 1/2 moa. Very accurate out of the box. A very good rifle for the price and I have been very satisfied with it so far. Most people complain about the loose feeling bolt but that doesn't matter because of the floating bolt head. In my opinion it won't jam up when in the elements. I guess if you aren't concerned about resale value, which I'm not, I think Savage gets the nod.
