I can't find anything to refute the information in here (but haven't had time to try very hard), These are things I've heard before, but this puts it all together in a way that provides a "big picture".

Good lord, not this again. Both of these videos were posted or started this knock-down drag out 19 page thread here http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27156

Short version: some people think all muslims should be "watched", others think that only extremists muslims who flag particular metrics are worth being concerned about.

I saw the Col. West video in the other thread, but missed this one- and saw it somewhere else... I wasn't trying to re-start that whole discussion, just interested if there is any credibility (one way or the other) to this...

I have not read the Qur'an, and was looking for input from those who have, or know where I can find anything to either reinforce this information or debunk it.

not interested in options about how "action-able" this is for modifying behavior- I think that was covered in the other thread.

+1

for each and every ideology there will be variations of it as well as various degrees.

During my time in the middle-east I had several Muslim Friends. In Marrying a filipina I now have some Muslim Family.

but then again in going to Mindanao, Pappa makes sure "the Boys"(his Brothers and Sons) are armed and I am too... because there are some nutcases there that honestly believe that Mohamed came to the P.I. and brought Islam there before Christianity. They would love nothing more than to behead an American in the name of Islam.

I'm attempting to ascertain where opinion ends and facts begin (or vice-versa)-
The simple question- are there any mis-statements or falsehoods in the "three things" video that can be backed up with sources? It states some things as "facts", are they or aren't they?

The short, short version of the "three things" video seems to be (it only makes the 1st point, the other is inferred by me):

Islam: The more dedicated/deeper you go into it, the more violent you get
Other religions: the deeper you go, the less violent you get- Zealots are confused "fringe" individuals that misinterpret the "scriptures"

I would treat a Zealot from any religion that is planning/committing violence no different... I don't care what their motivation is.

I posted this here because There are very intelligent people here with a wide range of experience... I know it flares emotions, but I'm seeking information here- not emotions & opinions- Please

Moderate Islam is the perversion of true Islam. Yes... ok i hide now.

While we're on the subject, I have heard that all Americans are without exception loud, boorish and uncultured, and have very little knowledge of the world outside of America. Hardly any of them have passports, and those who do regularly commit faux pas such as asking "which way to the changing of the ravens at Buckingham Tower?"

I've also heard that Americans don't understand irony and that every American owns at least three machine guns (available at every store on the corner of every street) which they use to settle even the slightest dispute over how many cheeseburgers they ordered.

Can someone, preferably not an American, confirm or deny this perhaps in the form of a youtube video narrated by someone doing a comedy Dutch accent?

Oh, and swanky graphics are essential.

So you're sarcastically saying that this video is stereotyping Islam?

have any facts? any sources to cite? At the surface, it looks like just another opinion, and an attempt to distract from the question at hand.

I'm from Texas so my German friends think I have a horse and use sixshooters to settle my problems....

People tell me I'm a Christian fanatic/Zealot.

zeal·ot –noun

1. a person who shows zeal.

2. an excessively zealous person; fanatic.

3. (initial capital letterhttp://sp.dictionary.com/dictstatic/dictionary/graphics/luna/thinsp.png) a member of a radical, warlike, ardently patriotic group of Jews in Judea, particularly prominent from a.d. 69 to 81, advocating the violent overthrow of Roman rule and vigorously resisting the efforts of the Romans and their supporters to heathenize the Jews.

Must be some old people walking around. It's all semantics anyways. HAHA.

Get a copy of both books and read them. Best way to make your own judgements.... don't surf the net for info, etc. as we all know not everything is correct. Go buy an actual paperback bound copy from a reputable source.

I can't bear to watch the whole video again (I watched it when it was linked in the Big Islam Clusterfuck Thread we just had), as the accent (actually Swedish it seems) is hurting my ears. I tried to find a transcript but was unsuccessful, but from what I managed to get through before I closed the tab, I would say you are right. It does look like just another opinion.

I haven't read the Koran so I can't confirm or debunk what they're saying, although I am sure they are mostly accurate in that regard, but the overlying idea that all Muslims are somehow hypnotically compelled to follow every single teaching and powerless to resist; well, that's the opinion bit and is going to be impossible to confirm or debunk. I guess that just comes down to whether you prefer to only expose yourself to information that matches your own worldview because it is uncomfortable to do otherwise.

This is what I'm trying to avoid- I don't have any Muslim friends, I know my worldview is skewed by my experience, so short of reading the Qur'an, I'm trying to explore & understand... Since I don't read Arabic, any copy of the Qur'an that I would be able to read is subject to the translation... which leads to the "reputable source" part-

Bear,
I used the word Zealot as a term for a "Violent religious fanatic", perhaps erroneously...

Likewise with a Bible my friend... Original source languges in Aramaic, Greek, Latin, and other "dead" langugages. Best to go to a book dealer and find a copy, they can tell you reputable translations, etc. No harm, no foul on using improper words in context. I do it all the time.

EDIT: WTH can't I spell languages?

Fully agree- my favorite example is the Song of Solomon 7:2-3

Specifically "Your navel is like a round goblet Which never lacks mixed wine;" NASB
King James version is: "Thy navel is like a round goblet, which wanteth not liquor"

For those not familiar with the verse, I'll give you a hint: the original Hebrew word used is NOT correctly translated as "navel".

but no translation will ever publish it correctly, lest they be labeled as the "SEX bible" >gasp<[NoEvil]

Thanks for the link, jweinsteiger... helps to have a search function :)

"What if it turns out that some of the people the Obama administration has been embracing are actually promoting the same totalitarian ideology and seditious agenda as al Qaeda, only they're doing it from White House Iftar dinners?" said Mr. Gaffney, referring to the daily meal eaten by Muslims to break their fast during Ramadan.
